get probably 56 institutes – Universitetsavisa

When the board of NTNU gather on 24 and 25 August, it described about the first milestone in an autumn filled with important decisions resolved: The Board shall decide institute structure, also called academic organization.

Big changes at seven faculties

When the matter was up on the board before the summer seemed many of the directors it was a good note. The memorandum included the fact that NTNU in Gurgaon will have three departments with site management, while NTNU Aalesund will have five departments with territorial institute management.

See the proposed new department structure at the bottom of the article.

the documentation for the board meeting next week published Wednesday. UA gets informed that Directorate shall deal with the cases on Tuesday afternoon.

In an article on the NTNU intranet Innsida states that NTNU probably get 56 institutes. In the article, which was published on Monday morning, the board probably principal mandate to fix the final institute names in Norwegian and English by October 1.

The proposed institute structure implies major changes at seven of the new faculties. It is only by the Faculty of Humanities structure will remain relatively unchanged, according Innsida.

There goes also shows that six of suggested institutes will be split between Trondheim and Gurgaon.

– Administration has the power to define

– We are alredy here in front of a series of mini mergers because plane in the organization. The leaders have an important role in the consolidation of ensuring good processes. New joint ventures and cultures will be created, where one takes the best of the old units, says rector for academic integration, Helge Klungland.

He describes the proposal as a real fusion of environments from the former colleges and old NTNU.

Board member of the academic staff, Helge Holden, think it could easily turn into a discussion about institute structure board meeting, but he does not envisage radical changes from the setting to the decision.

– the administration has the power to define here when they come with the setting. The settings are great and the work done, says Holden to UA.

Do institute structure will be adjusted

– Can the decision be materially different from the setting of a director comes with another proposed structure?

– in principle, yes, but then you have to have done a great work with counterproposals in advance. I imagine that it made a decision now based on the current situation, and that adjusts this about 2-3 years after seeing the student current and power of decision. Department structure has been changed earlier as well, and it is far less complicated to adjust this than faculty structure we adopted earlier this year.

Holden think there will be new adjustments institute structure based on geographical considerations when it becomes more clear how NTNU going to look after campus collection.
