Unlock Samsung Galaxy S3 & Note 2 In 5 Steps - SidhTech

Owners of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the Samsung Galaxy S3 are able to unlock their handsets free and fast. If you unlock your device you are then able to use it anywhere in the world or you can go onto a new carrier.

For instance, if you have the AT&T version of the Samsung Galaxy S3 you could unlock it and then send it to someone overseas. So to unlock your handset in quick easy steps you should follow the steps outlined below.

nsert a SIM card that's NOT from your carrier into the handset. Switch it off and on again, with the foreign carrier in place.

Open up the dialpad and key in *#197328640#. Go to Main Menu > [1] UMTS > [1] Debug Screen > [8] Phone Control > [6] Network Lock > Options [3]Perso SHA256 OFF > then wait for 30 seconds or so. Then hit Menus and choose Back. You should now see Network Lock. Then choose [4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ.

To make sure you didn't make a mistake, the sequence you should have typed in is: Asterisk Pound One Nine Seven Three Two Eight Six Four Zero Pound. However some people call the asterisk the star button and the pound button is sometimes called hash.

You can will then have an unlocked version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 or Samsung Galaxy S3 and be able to use it anywhere in the world and on any carrier. This code may well work with other handsets as Samsung have been using it for some time.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 overclocked, before and after - Phones Review

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 overclocked, before and after

Over the last couple of years we have seen the smartphones that we use becoming more powerful and much quicker in use, which is partly down to the more RAM inside them along with the improvement in the actual processors, and today we have a video for you that shows the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 overclocked before and after.

The added bloatware that smartphone manufacturers load onto smartphones can make them start to lag a little bit, and that is one criticism that some people level at Samsung phones with the TouchWiz Android overlay.

This gets worse as you fill the available storage and is an issue that has also been affecting some Nexus 7 owners. When Samsung first released the Galaxy Note 2 it was one of the most powerful smartphones available to consumers, and the video below shows the results of overclocking the handset.

The kernel used for the Galaxy Note 2 in the video is called Note2Core that comes with three versions ranging from standard through to extreme, and for the video the user installed the extreme version.

It then goes on to show you how to install the software and you are advised that you must use a TouchWiz based ROM to avoid the handset going into a continuous boot loop or worse. Once booted up the device was set to 1.8GHz but once overclocked the Note 2 performance was markedly worse in benchmark tests.

While running the stock kernel the Galaxy Note 2 scored just over 17,000 but when overclocked returned less than 13,000, and this was found in a number of benchmark tests. But in real world tests the results were different with a slight improvement in the response time of the handset. Watch the full video and tell us what you think of the outcome.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Review: Overshadowing S3 Like A Boss, Literally - SidhTech

There are a good few Samsung Galaxy Note 2 reviews now, so let's have our own. Is the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 just a Galaxy S3 on steroids or is there something more appealing to it?

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 review

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 does resemble the S3 – huge screen, rounded corners and a thin bezel. You'll also notice the home button in the middle and touch buttons down the sides for the menu and for home. Colour choices – marble white or titanium grey. People didn't rate the first Note as a day-to-day phone because it was massive, but it did actually sell really well. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is 5.5", which isn't much bigger than the first Note, and the 16:9 ratio makes watching films brilliant.

Anyone with big hands will be OK with the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, but it's a good idea to get a Bluetooth headset for frequent long calls, as it can get uncomfortable on the fingers to hold it to your ear.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 hardware is ahead of the Samsung Galaxy 3 – a 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos chip and 2GB of RAM. If you consider that the US S3 is dual-core with 2GB of RAM and the international S3 is quad-core with 1GB, you'll see that the Note 2 has the best of both worlds.

You can increase the 16GB of storage in the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 up to 80GB with an SD card, and the phone runs on Jelly Bean. Its four cores and Project Butter make this a very speedy phone indeed – much faster than an ICS-run Samsung Galaxy S3 when it comes to screen transitions and app launches.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 battery is also a big step-up – 3,100mAh from 2,500mAh. This means 12 hours of talk, as well as a big screen and LTE. It has an 8MP rear and a 1.9MP front camera. Battery tests have shown that the S3 is only a shade better than the Note 2, with both phones clunking out after around seven hours of looped video. More size, it seems, doesn't mean more frequent charging.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 S-Pen has been restyled to make it more ergonomic. It also gives some friction, so you feel as if you're writing on paper. You just take the stylus from the dock and you're ready. You'll love Quick Command, Air View and Easy Clip. You can preview content like emails and videos with Air View by hovering the S-Pen over them. Easy Clip means you can crop images and then transfer or share them.

S-Pen is brilliant, but it's the multi-tasking windows that really make this phone. You can run two apps at the same time with a split screen, and you can adjust the size of each window independently of the other.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has redesigned the look of the phablet, and it'll sell very well indeed, with more than three million units shifting in the last four weeks. Some will still go for the Samsung Galaxy S3 because it's smaller, but they'll be missing out on some great features….just because they're worried about size. Don't eschew the Note 2 because it's a bit heftier than you might ideally like. Try out the S-Pen, brilliant hardware and all the other features. You might not be able to resist.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Review (& Why S4 Is No Competition) - SidhTech

The Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy Note 2 look so alike they could almost be twins, even though one is larger than the other. They have the same touch buttons and the same looks, as Samsung hasn't altered the form factor of the Galaxy S4 too much.

When the Galaxy note first came out people said it would never catch on because of its size, but it proved them wrong and became a great seller. The Note 2 has an even larger display, but because the bezel has made way for the screen, the overall size hasn't increased that much. The Note 2 is 5.5", compared to the 4.99" of the Galaxy S4. The GS4 does have a full HD 1080 screen, though, which is better than the 720 HD display of the Note 2. It's great for the big-handed among us, but even these folk will need a headset for long calls.

The progression of hardware has been a bigger leap for the Note and Note 2, but sadly we can't say this about the jump from Galaxy S3 to Galaxy S4. The Note 2 has 2GB of RAM as well as a quad-core Exynos 1.6GHz chip. The Galaxy S4 has 2GB and two lots of quad-core chips, making it octa-core. One core is used for menial tasks, and the other joins in when it's needed.

The Note 2 has a much bigger battery than the first Note – it's gone from 2,500mAh to 3,100mAh, which offers around 12 hours of talk. The Galaxy S4 has a 2,600mAh battery, which gives around the same talk time, as the handset is a bit smaller. Both handsets have LTE.

The Note 2 has an 8MP rear camera and a 1.9MP camera on the front. The Galaxy S4 has a 13MP rear camera and a 2MP front offering. It seems like it takes decent low light shots from what we managed, and the shutter speed is rapid.

The Note 2 has a vastly improved S-Pen that feels as if it's writing on paper, and as soon as it's released from its dock it's ready. You can use Air View, which lets you preview content files by hovering the stylus over them, and Easy Clip, with which you can crop and transfer images.

Multi-Windows is of course the star of the show, and it means that you ca use two apps at the same time, You can also adjust the two windows used independently of each other. The phone also has eye tracking and a dual camera. The Galaxy S4 has a lot of these features, but doesn't have the S-Pen.

The Galaxy Note 2 changed the phablet game, and five million-plus handsets have already been sold. Some will like a smaller handset and will opt for the GS4, but they'll be missing out on the S-Pen and the bigger display and battery. The S-Pen is a really nifty gadget indeed.

Treasurys extend slide after 2-year-note auction - MarketWatch

By Ben Eisen, MarketWatch

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — Treasurys continued to slide on Tuesday after a soft auction of 2-year Treasury notes, extending a selloff in the U.S. government-debt market to a fifth straight day.

The 10-year Treasury note /quotes/zigman/4868283/delayed 10_YEAR +1.81%  yield, which moves inversely to price, rose 5 basis points to 2.594%, putting it on track to once again hit its highest close since August 2011.

The 30-year bond /quotes/zigman/4868063/delayed 30_YEAR +1.55%  yield rose 5 basis points to 3.598%.

The 2-year note /quotes/zigman/4868354/delayed 2_YEAR +3.25%  yield rose 1 basis point to 0.401% after an auction of $ 35 billion worth of notes.

The Treasury Department sold the notes at a high yield of 0.430%, the highest yield since May 2011, and slightly higher than where 2-year notes were trading at the time.

Buyers offered 3.05 times the amount of debt sold, below the average of 3.32 times over the last four sales. Indirect bidders, which include central banks, bought 35.8% of the sale, above the 21.3% average. Direct bidders, which include a slew of domestic investors like money managers, only bought 7.8% of the sale, compared to an average of 23.4%.

That lack of demand from direct bidders mirrors recent auctions that have taken place as yields have climbed since the beginning of May.

"Nondealer bidding was weaker than normal, and it was cautious because you had this tail. People approached this auction with an air of caution," said David Ader, head of government bond strategy at CRT Capital Group LLC.

The fall in Treasury prices has picked up since last Wednesday, when Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke suggested the central bank could begin scaling back its pace of bond purchases later this year if economic data continue to show improvement. The 10-year Treasury note yield rose 39 basis points last week in the worst 5-day run for 10-year notes since 2009; that yield has risen over 90 basis points since hitting its low point of the year in April.

Though the haven government debt continues to fall, volume has been weaker Tuesday than in the previous days' selloff, suggesting that perhaps there is less conviction in rising yields, according to Ader.

"When the market was really directionally trading up, it was accompanied by a lot of volume. Today's volume is relatively subdued. Potential buyers want things to calm down," said Ader.

Treasurys started the day higher, but a round of strong economic data pushed the market lower.

"Uniformly we got better economic data today. All that suggests, at least for today, that the Fed will be on track to taper in about four months," said Wilmer Stith, co-manager of Wilmington Trust Broad Market Bond Fund.

The Conference Board's consumer-confidence index rose to a five-year high of 81.4 in June, beating economist expectations of a 74.0 reading.

U.S. home sales in May also hit their highest levels since mid-2008, rising 2.1% to 476,000. That beat the expectations of economists surveyed by MarketWatch, who had projected a rate of 464,000.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Gets Android Update : Resolves Battery Drain Issue - 3G.co.uk

Samsung Galaxy Note 2

The new update fixes a number of bugs affecting Samsung’s phablet.

Samsung rolled out Android 4.1.2 for the Galaxy Note 2 back in May. Now they’ve rolled out a new stability update which fixes a couple of bugs unwittingly introduced by the previous update , including the battery drain issue.

After updating to Android 4.1.2, Galaxy Note 2 owners reported a significant reduction in the Note 2′s battery-life. Thankfully, this new update – which is still based on Android 4.1.2 – addresses the issue , as well as fixing a number of other bugs.

Owners of the Galaxy Note 2 can download the new update over-the-air and it’s already begun rolling out across Europe. You should receive a automatic notification when it becomes available, but you can always run a manual check to be sure.

It’s only a small update , but we’d still recommend backing up your files and data in-case anything goes wrong. You can easily backup your device using Samsung’s Kies software on your desktop PC.

Android 4.2.2 Is Still To Come

Samsung previously confirmed that they would be rolling out Android 4.2.2 to the Galaxy Note 2 – with the update due to land in the 3rd quarter of 2013. That’ll bring a whole host of updates to Samsung’s phablet – potentially including Smart Pause and Smart Scroll , which were introduced on the Galaxy S4.

As soon as we get more news about the Galaxy Note 2 you’ll be the first to know !

HTC One vs Samsung Galaxy Note 2: Which Is The Best? - Auto-o-Mobile

Nothing beats comparing two handsets against each other and this time it's the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the HTC One, which is due for release any day now. Both top devices have plenty to offer you.

The appearance of the two devices are very different from one another, but they both run on Android. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 falls into the phablet category as it has quite a large screen, so you will want to bear this in mind when making your choice.

The HTC One offers a 4.7 inch Super LCD3 display with 469ppi and a resolution of 1920 x 1080p while the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 comes with a 5.5 inch Super AMOLED display and 267ppi and a resolution of 1280 x 720p. If you are after the better display then you might want to choose the HTC One.

The HTC One has 2GB of RAM, comes in either 32GB or 64GB and supports SD card. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 offers 2GB of RAM and comes in either 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. It supports SD card with the option of adding on an extra 64GB.

The HTC One comes with Jelly Bean 4.1.2 and can be updated. The handset also has Sense UI. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 also has Jelly Bean 4.1.2 that can be updated and the device comes with TouchWiz.

The cost of the device will depend on what carrier you are with and where you live. In the UK the Samsung Galaxy Note will set you back around £550 and the HTC One is available SIM free for around the same price.

The HTC One is available in black, silver or red. It weighs 143 grams and measures 137.4mm x 68.2mm x 9.3mm. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is the larger out of the two handsets and comes in grey, blue, white, pink, ruby or brown. It weighs 183 grams and is 151.1mm x 80.5mm x 9.4mm.

The HTC One is a superb device due to the curves and the metal design. Not only does it look like a premium device, but it is a premium device. Unfortunately the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 looks plastic and this is where it loses points.

The HTC One has a 8 megapixels camera that supports flash, fsce detection, smile detection and touch focus. It has the ability to record in 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second. The camera of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 on the front is 1.9 megapixels, while the HTC One comes with the Ultrapixel 4 megapixel camera with LED flash and autofocus and can record video in HD. The HTC One also has a 4 megapixels camera, but this doesn't compare to the 8 megapixel camera that The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has to offer.

Both of the devices have LTE, NFC and Bluetooth 4. The HTC One comes with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/ac/b/g/n and the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 also has the S pen, while the HTC One doesn't have anything similar to this. The HTC One comes with Blinkfeed HTC Watch, Beats Audio and Zoe. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has Smart Rotate, S Voice and Smart Stay.

Both are fantastic handset and to choice which would be best suitable for you you will need to think about the appearance of the device, how much storage you require and the size of the handset.

Pre-requites

1) Install USB Driver for Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 to transfer files between the Android device and computer.

2) Enable USB Debugging Mode on the phone to connect the Android device with the computer and use the Android SDK with it. [Press Menu>> Settings>> Applications. From there navigate and click on Development option and check the USB Debugging Mode.]

3) As the tutorial is likely to wipe all data of the tablet, create a back-up. If the device is having any custom recoveries such as CWM/TWRP already installed then backup data using the recovery.

4) The Galaxy Note should have above 80 per cent of battery charge.

8) The Android 4.1.2 XXBMF1 Jelly Bean works only on Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 GT-N5110. Flashing this on any incorrect variant might brick the device. Therefore, verify the model number of the Galaxy device by selecting Settings>> About phone>> Model number.

Steps to install Android 4.1.2 XXBMF1 Jelly Bean on Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 GT-N5110

Steps-1: Download Android 4.1.2 XXBMF1 Jelly Bean official update for Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 to the computer

Steps-2: Extract the downloaded firmware zip using wizrar/7zip/winzip or any other extracting tool to get a file with .tar.md5 extension along with few other files

Steps-3: Download Odin 3.07 which will help to install the Jelly Bean firmware on the device. Extract the Odin zip to get Odin3 v3.07.exe and some other files

Steps-4: Turn off the Note 8.0 and wait for about five to six seconds for vibration to confirm complete power off

Steps-5: Now boot the Note into Download Mode by pressing and holding Volume Down and Home buttons together then press the Power button until the device turns on. Now press the Volume up button to continue to enter into Download Mode

Steps-6: Run Odin3 v3.07.exe as an administrator (Right click on the Odin.exe file then click on Run as administrator from the menu.)

Steps-7: Connect the Galaxy Note 8.0 to the computer using USB cable while it is in the Download Mode. Wait for some time until Odin detects the device. When the device is connected a massage saying Added will appear under Odin’s message box in the bottom left. Also, the ID: COM box in Odin will turn yellow with the COM port number, indicating the successful connection

Note: If the Added message does not come then try another USB port, try the one located at the back side of the computer. In case Odin still fails to recognise the device then re-install USB driver.

Steps-8: Now select these files extracted from N5110XXBMF1 folder to install on the device

a) Click the PDA button and select the file with .tar.md5 extension

b) Click the Phone button and select file with Modem in its name

c) Click the CSC button and select file with CSC in its name

d) Click the PIT button and select the .pit file

Note: Ignore the last three steps (step-b, c and d) if such files are not found.

Steps-9: Ensure the Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time checkboxes are selected in Odin window. But uncheck the Re-Partition option, select it only when a .pit file is being used

Steps-10: Double check everything and then click the Start button in Odin. The installation process should begin now and would take few minutes to complete

Steps-11: When the installation process is completed, the phone will restart automatically. And a PASS message with green background will appear in the extreme left box at the very top of Odin indicating successful installation. Unplug the USB cable from the device to disconnect it from the computer

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 should be now updated with official Android 4.1.2 XXBMF1 Jelly Bean firmware. Verify the new software version running on the device by navigating to Settings>> About phone.

How to fix bootloop issue

If the Galaxy Note 8.0 gets at booting animation (after step-11) then go to the recovery mode by pressing and  holding Volume Up, Home and Power buttons together. In recovery mode, perform data wiping task by selecting Wipe data/factory reset. Now select wipe cache partition and once the action is completed, reboot the phone by selecting reboot system now. In recovery mode, use Volume keys to scroll between options and Power button to select the desired option. It should be noted that performing wiping task will erase the internal memory data of the device.

Samsung Galaxy Note and Galaxy Note 2, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update status - Capital Technologies

The Samsung Galaxy Note and the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 are two of the most popular phablets in the market. These two devices, especially the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is one of the highest selling devices in the market. So when Samsung roll out the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update for these two devices? If you are interested to know the answer, then read ahead.

android_evolution
Samsung is one of those smartphone manufacturers who has been trying to ensure that each of the company's high-end smart devices running on Android get upgraded to the latest version, so that consumers can have the best user experience. And as far as the Android updates are concerned, Samsung recently rolled out the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy Note N7000, and the Galaxy Note 2 N7100 is already running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
And in recent times, there have been reports that said that Samsung had already planned a 4.2 Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, which was expected to be rolled out by the month of June. But now it seems that the roll out will be delayed since there is a lot more work to be done then it was earlier imagined. And even though th ere has been no official announcement for a 4.2 Jelly Bean update for the original Galaxy Note, we believe that the company is definitely considering the same.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100

Samsung Galaxy Note 2
Samsung has already been working on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. The company has plans to add the latest version of Samsung TouchWiz UI in the update, and this seems to be the reason for the delay. So Galaxy Note 2 consumers will need to wait for some more months as the update is expected to arrive by Q3 this year.

Samsung Galaxy Note N7000

Samsung Galaxy Note
We would really be happy to see Samsung roll out the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update for the original Samsung Galaxy Note. Even though there has been no official confirmation, Samsung will definitely be considering this device to be eligible for the update. Another important point that Samsung will have to consider is that the Galaxy Note N7000 has a large user base, and a 4.2 update roll out will be the best way to keep them happy. And if the company does plan to roll out the 4.2 update, it will happen late in Q3 or may be in Q4.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 & S3 Android 4.2.2 Update Now Days Away? - SidhTech

If you have in your hand one of the Samsung handsets then you will be pleased to know that you can get an update to Jelly Bean 4.2.2.

PC Tablets said that the handsets will be getting updated and these include the Samsung Galaxy Note, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the Samsung Galaxy S3. Along with this they said that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and S3 should get updated before the end of the month is out.

This was something that had been backed up by SamMobile on their Twitter account; they said they thought the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Samsung Galaxy S3 would get the Key Lime Pie update when that was revealed.

"A tweet from a reliable internal source for Samsung related leaks, SamMobile, has confirmed that both Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update is coming by the end of May or in start of June," said the report.

At the moment we don't know when they will get the update to Jelly Bean 4.4.4, but when it happens it could be the last time.

The update will bring with it many features and bug fixes. Owners will be able to resize apps along with changing the layout and the colours.

So how excited are you about getting the update?

Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S3 Can Be Unlocked in Five Steps - USDailyVoice

Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S3 Can Be Unlocked in Five Steps

Technically, it is considered as a form of hacking, but for those intrepid enough to try it on their device, there are several sites that freely dispense advice and tutorials on how to unlock a locked handset without having to pay anything.  This means that the device would be usable on any carrier's network, or anywhere in the world if flying out of the country.

One of the above sites in question is SidhTech, an Asian site that recently published a blog-style article on how to unlock the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Samsung Galaxy S3.  According to the site, the process can be accomplished in just five easy steps, starting by inserting a SIM card not from the carrier into the handset, may it be the Galaxy Note 2 or Galaxy S3 – SidhTech claims the method works on either device.  The second step would be to enter the code "#197328640#" on the dial pad.  Third step would be to go to Main Menu > [1] UMTS > [1] Debug Screen > [8] Phone Control > [6] Network Lock > Options [3] Perso SHA256 Off.  At this juncture, users would have to wait about 30 seconds before performing the next step.  After that, users can hit the Menus button and choose Back.  Once the Network Lock notification appears, the final step would be to select [4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ.

Aside from the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3, SidhTech hinted that the process might work on a few other Samsung handsets, though it didn't specify which exactly.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100 users can now enjoy the latest build (cm-10.1-20130616-NIGHTLY-n7100) of the popular CyanogenMod 10.1 (CM10.1) Nightly release that is based on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean firmware. The latest CM10.1 Nightly ROM is based on the original Android Open Source Project (AOSP) release, which is designed to deliver better performance and stability than stock Android.

IBTimes UK brings you a step-by-step guide to install Android 4.2.2 based latest CyanogenMod 10.1 Nightly ROM on Galaxy Note 2 N7100, courtesy of Droid Firmwares.

Key Points to Note

  •  CyanogenMod 10.1 Nightly ROM and the instructions provided in this guide are limited to Galaxy Note 2 N7100 model only. Do not attempt this installation on any other device, as it may inadvertently brick or damage the device. Verify the device’s model number by navigating to Settings > About Phone.
  •  Backup your important data and settings on the phone to avoid data loss while performing any data wiping task during or after firmware installation.
  •  Make sure the correct USB drivers are installed for your phone on the computer (download Galaxy Note 2 N7100 USB drivers)
  •  Enable USB Debugging mode on the phone by navigating to Settings > Developer Options (if device is running Android 4.0 or later) or go to Settings > Applications > Development (if phone is running Android 2.3 or earlier). Otherwise if device is running Android 4.2, then do the following steps:
  •  Go to Settings > About Phone
  •  Navigate to the bottom of the screen and select Build Number
  •  Tap the Build Number seven times until Developer Options is unlocked or revealed under Settings. Then select the checkbox to enable USB Debugging mode under settings > Developer Options.
  •  Ensure the device is rooted with ClockworkMod recovery (CWM) installed on it.
  •  Verify that the phone has at least 80% battery charge to prevent unexpected device shutdown (due to battery drain) during firmware installation.
  •  Allow the newly installed ROM to stabilize for about five to ten minutes before you start working.
  •  If Status 7 error appears on screen, it could be due to an incompatible device being flashed or a related kernel might be missing (for instance, it is necessary to install a Jelly Bean kernel first, before installing any Jelly Bean ROM).

Step 1: Download CyanogenMod 10.1 Nightly ROM (Release Dated 16 June 2013) for Galaxy Note 2 N7100 and Google Apps.

Step 2: Connect your phone to computer via USB cable and then mount its storage.

Step 3: Without extracting, copy the downloaded zip files to the root folder on your phone’s SD card.

Step 4: After the file transfer process is complete, Power off the phone and disconnect its USB cable from computer.

Step 5: Now boot the phone into ClockworkMod Recovery by pressing and holding Volume Up, Volume Down and Power button together until the screen flashes and then release all three buttons. [NOTE: Use volume buttons to navigate and Power button to select an option in recovery].

Step 6: Perform a Nandroid backup of your existing ROM so that it can be restored later if the new ROM fails to work or you want to return to the original ROM. To do a backup, click Backup and Restore, then hit Backup again on next screen. Return to main recovery menu once backup is complete.

Step 7: Perform a full data wipe task to eliminate conflicts between newly installed ROM and previous ROM. To do so, first choose wipe data/factory reset and then click Yes on next screen to confirm. Wait for a few minutes until the data wipe process completes. Now return to CWM recovery main menu and select wipe cache partition. Wait until the wiping process completes and choose Wipe Dalvik Cache under advance option. Once the entire data-wiping process completes, you can safely proceed to the next step.

Step 8: Choose Install Zip from SD card and then click Choose Zip from SD card. Now, navigate to the cm-10.1-20130616-NIGHTLY-n7100.zip file that you copied earlier in Step 3 and select it by tapping Power button. Confirm the ROM installation on next screen and soon its installation will begin.

Step 9: After the ROM installation completes, repeat the step 8 but choose gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip instead of ROM zip to install Google apps package.

Step 10: Once both the ROM and Google apps are installed, return to the main recovery menu and hit reboot system now. The phone will now reboot into the newly installed ROM. However, the first boot may take about 5 to 15 minutes to complete. So, do not interrupt the process.

Returning to Previous ROM: To return to your previous ROM: boot the device into recovery, choose Backup and Restore then restore your original ROM by choosing it from the list.

Congratulations! Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean based latest CyanogenMod 10.1 Nightly ROM is now installed and running on your Galaxy Note 2 N7100. Go to Settings > About Phone to confirm the firmware installed.

Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.1.2, JellyBean Software Update Now Available - Christian Post

By Vincent Funaro , Christian Post Reporter

June 18, 2013|2:29 pm

It does not bring the device up to Android 4.2.2, but instead functions as a stability update that fixes issues with battery drain, bugs and other small problems. The next Android build upgrade for the device is expected to be released sometime during the third quarter.

The update can currently be accessed in most European countries OTA (over-the-air) or through Samsung KIES.

The Android 4.2.2, JellyBean update for the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 is experiencing delays.

“Samsung delayed 4.2.2 for Note 2 and S3,” tweeted out SamMobile yesterday. “Reason new TW for S3 and Note 2.”

The site is apparently blaming the new Touch Wiz UI for the delay. This news has not been confirmed by Samsung at this time; however, SamMobile frequently reports accurate information regarding the company and its products.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 Android 4.1.2, JellyBean update finally began rolling out for AT&T users this week.

The update, which was released for the Skyrocket variant a few months back, is now available for the SGH-I777 model. This same device received Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich about one year ago.

Galaxy S2 users can update their devices using Samsung KIES software. The update will bump the smartphone’s software up to the Android 4.1.2, JellyBean build. It will bring some new features to the Galaxy S2 including Google Now, updated notifications and improved performance.

The Galaxy S2 was released by Samsung in 2011, and solidified the company as a valid iPhone competitor. The device’s successor, the Galaxy S3, debuted running Ice Cream Sandwich and now uses the latest build of JellyBean. The Galaxy S4 came with JellyBean out of the box.

Official Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Update for Samsung Galaxy S3 & Galaxy Note ... - International Business Times AU

Finally! The most anticipated official Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean firmware update for the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 is going to be released on the third quarter of 2013, much earlier than the November rumoured date and includes Galaxy S4 features.

Patience for the owners of Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 will finally be rewarded on the Q3 of 2013 as a Samsung insider marks timeframe from July to September for Android 4.2.2 update. The delay has come to a stop after the maker of both devices launched a bug fixing update and solved the rumour on TouchWiz issues.

Third Quarter 2013 Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Firmware

Sometime in Q3 2013, Samsung will officially release the Android 4.2.2 update for both Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2. According to SamMobile, the update opens a huge window for arrival from July to September which dismisses the November rumoured date.

With this given timeframe, international and European version of the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 would likely be the first to receive the update via Over-the-Air or Samsung Kies PC Suite procedure. United States network carriers and owners of both devices are typically last in line to get major updates.

“Android 4.2.2 for the Galaxy Note 2 and S3 is planned in Q3 together with the new interface of the Galaxy S4,” according to SamMobile.

Official Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean firmware with Galaxy S4 Features

One of the biggest additions of the upcoming official update on Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 is the TouchWiz found in Galaxy S4 which already leaked last May and now SamMobile confirms it via insider that some Galaxy S4 features would be included on the Android 4.2.2 update.

  • Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS features
  • Google Now
  • Project Butter
  • New camera features such as Dual Shot, Sound & Shot and Drama Shot
  • S4 Exclusive apps: S Translator, S Voice, Smart Pause, Air View/Air Gesture, Samsung KNOX, S Health

Samsung hasn’t confirmed any release dates for the upcoming update but it seems like the company only awaits the new Android 4.3 and Android 5.0 before they push the Android 4.2.2 update for Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2.

As of now, you can only update your Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note 2 to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean featuring Google Now, Project Butter and bug fixes found from the previous firmware version. Use either the Over-the-Air procedure on your device or Samsung Kies PC suite on your computer to get the update.

Reserve Bank of India boosts FDI efforts, to notify Press Notes 2 and 3 soon - Economic Times

NEW DELHI: The Reserve Bank will soon notify the controversial Press Notes 2 and 3, four years after they were issued, giving momentum to the government’s big-ticket foreign direct investment liberalisation push.

The department of industrial policy and promotion (DIPP), the nodal department for FDI policy, has also circulated a cabinet note for putting in place a stringent definition of ‘control’, which will help the government clearly ascertain foreign ownership in ventures with FDI.

“Understanding has been reached on these issues…the new changes should be issued shortly,” a senior official told ET. This follows discussions between finance minister P Chidambaram and commerce and industry minister Anand Sharma late last month on the issue of defining ‘control’.

The UPA government is reviewing the overall FDI policy and sectoral caps as it eyes more stable forms of foreign capital to finance its large current account deficit, estimated at 5% of GDP in 2012-13. Chidambaram has already announced a switchover to global definition of FDI and portfolio investments in the budget. An inter-ministerial panel, headed by department of economic affairs secretary Arvind Mayaram, is expected to make recommendations on the framework for change in definition as also sectoral caps.

With the RBI moving to notify the press notes and the DIPP putting changes in definition of ‘control’, the government’s FDI reform has been put on the fast track.

Reserve Bank of India boosts FDI efforts, to notify Press Notes 2 and 3 soon

The government’s current liberalisation programme in a way hinges on the Press Notes 2 and 3 of 2009, which made caps below 49% in all sectors irrelevant. DIPP issues norms in form of press notes or consolidated circulars. These press notes have been at the centre of a huge controversy and are yet to become a part of the legal framework. The RBI, involved in a tussle with the DIPP over these press notes, has not notified them under the

Jay-Z’s new album Magna Carta Holy Grail will be released early and for free to 1 million Samsung Galaxy S4, S3 and Note 2 owners, in a multi-million dollar promotional deal announced last night.

If you’re packing one of the flagship smart phones, you can download a free app from 24 June that’ll unlock the long-player on 4 July — three days before anyone else gets to hear it.

The offer was announced on US TV in an ad aired during the NBA basketball finals last night, and it’s not immediately clear if the offer is global or US-only. I’ve asked Samsung for confirmation and will update when I hear back.

Even if it is available here in the UK, the S3 and S4 have sold more than 50 million phones between them, so you’ll have to be quick to be in the first million downloaders.

Samsung is reportedly splashing out $ 5m on giving its customers something fresh to listen to, according to the Wall Street Journal. It’s apparently part of a rumoured $ 20m partnership between the millionaire rapper-producer and the Korean mobile maker — if true, by far the biggest sponsorship deal in tech history.

The app will also give lucky Galaxy owners an “unprecedented inside look into the album” along with “personal stories and inspiration”, according to the album’s official site.

Here’s Mr Knowles-Carter and some close personal friends making some music and getting creative with their favourite Samsung products:

It’s fair to say Samsung has more money than Jesus at this point, so it’s pretty cool it’s sharing the wealth with this glamorous giveaway. But as the dominant player in mobile making, is there anything else you’d rather it spent the money on?
