Symptoms such as headaches, chronic fatigue, numbness and various pains plaguing right now 758 mainly young women.
They have two things in common: They have all been given the controversial HPV vaccine, and they are all waiting still to get an explanation from their hospital – even though the regions guaranteed that it would be ready to examine symptoms by 1 June this year.
It shows a note that the regions have submitted to the Minister of Health Sophie Løhde (V), TV 2 has been given access to.
A total of 1,290 HPV-vaccinated women were referred by their doctors to get an explanation on whether the above symptoms may be due to the vaccine. But over half waiting so still, some for up to nine months.
It is not good enough, says Sophie Løhde against Politiken.
– It is not satisfactory that waiting several places so long as it is the case. This is surely an indication that there has been a bump before the bid was established, she writes in a comment to the newspaper.
– I can not wait more
One of the young women who have not come to yet, Halima Bibi from Brøndby Strand. She has for years had major problems with fainting and fatigue.
– I could sleep 10 hours and still be tired. I could pass out 3-4 times a week, she says.
She has had very irregular periods and even had surgery for a non-existent appendicitis because of stomach problems. She dropped out of school twice because of problems but despite three references she is yet to come into the clearing program to find out whether it is due to the HPV vaccine.
– It is really difficult for me to go to school, and I can not work alongside. It has affected me a lot. I can not wait for more, she says.
Halima Bibi is now on HF and have to take medication to cope. She has been told that her investigation will begin in December.
– It’s good, it comes in time, and I also understand that it is difficult for doctors because it has many different symptoms. But it is a long time to wait, she says.
regional chairman: A complex problem
In the regions, there may be no assurances as to when the 758 women on the waiting list will be able to get answers to their problems due HPV vaccine.
– Within the framework, now, you can not stand up and say that the New Year we are through with all the courses, says Bent Hansen, president of Danish Regions, told Politiken.
The problem is, according to Bent Hansen symptoms pointing in many different directions. Therefore, it takes a long time to unravel each.
More than half a million women have received the HPV vaccine.
