Might Norway – but not right away

Does anyone if possible is more concerned with taking pictures of themselves in all possible situations than us Norwegians, it had to be Chinese and Taiwanese. It is certainly the impression we get after walked around in Taipei streets.

In the presentation let Asus emphasis on how the phone using optics, light and built software that smoothes and fixes the skin uses all the tricks in the book to make you look your best in photos.

We were a bit unsure about the phone would come to Norway, or whether a purely selfietelefon gets a little too special for us Northerners. PR specialist Andreas Zannin in Asus says to Tek.no that they initially working on getting Asus ZenFone 2 to Norway – and that they will consider whether they should take into ZenFone selfies after this. Asus can not say anything yet about the price or release date for Norway.

Large Full HD screen

ZenFone selfies has a 5.5-inch display with Full HD resolution, ie 1920 x 1080 dots. It provides a sharp and nice picture, and our first impression is that the screen is very good. The resolution is not as high as that of the most expensive top models, LG G4 – which has 2560 x 1440 dots. But it is still high enough that you get a brilliant picture – and our first impression of the screen is that it is very good. The screen is of a IPS and 178-degree viewing angle.

The phone uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chip. This was the industry’s first eight-core 64-bit processor, you will see many more phones to come – including ZTE Nubia Z9 Mini, we’ve taken a look at the past. The chip is designed for mid-range mobiles, and in our little informal test drive listed phone like a flash.

Volume buttons on the back

Visually similar ZenFone selfies really on ZenFone 2, we’ve created a sneak peek at the past. The back of the phone is made of plastic and is available in various colors. There are also varieties that looks a little like brushed metal.

On the back there is a 13 megapixel camera, the same as sitting in front of the phone. ZenFone 2 had 13 megapixel rear and 5 megapixel front – but with ZenFone selfies it is equally important that the images of yourself being as good as the pictures of the surroundings. Under the camera you will find the volume buttons, while the on / off button sits on top of the phone.

Kameraappen phone has some features related to the making good selfies – including that you can take HDR images with both main camera and front camera. The colored LED flashes to give the correct skin tones and kameraappen As mentioned automatically smooth out the skin and make other adjustments. Asus calls it ZenUI Beautification and “live digital makeup.” With the selfies Panorama Mode can take panoramic selfies up to 140 degrees, so you get all your friends in the picture too.

Both cameras employ incidentally laser focusing, which will provide faster and more accurate focusing.

Asus own user interface

It is Android 5.0 which is on the phone, but Asus has added its own ZenUI on top of it all. The menus are not so very different from standard Android, but little touches here and there it is.

Asus has also added by quite a few own apps that are not standard in Android. For partly app Splendid to adjust the color temperature of the screen, and there is also an app to adjust how the sound in speaker and headphone should be. A separate app for power there too, as well as a handsome Memo app (Super Note). There are also some third party apps, perhaps on the borderline of what one might call “bloatware” – as Zinio, Kindle, and so on.

All in all it seems ZenFone selfies as an interesting product, but that said it is a bit uncertain about the coming to Norway.

Asus also launched a range of other products at Computex – those you can read about here “
