14 hours agoThe Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has been hugely popular, both with end users and developers, which is why this device has a custom Jelly Bean 4.2 ROM all to itself, ahead of the uncertain official schedule.
This ROM is for the international Galaxy Note 2, available on AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint. Obviously your device needs to be rooted, backed up, and to have at least 70% battery charge, to avoid power disruptions during the installation.
You should probably disable security on your PC and your handset before you start as well. Also, you need to go to Settings > Application Development and USB Debugging and make sure it's enabled.
You also need to have ClockworkMod installed.
Then you should download the ROM onto your PC and read our instructions below to get the update.
One. Install Samsung USB drivers onto your PC.
Two. Connect your Note 2 to your PC and then copy the ROM and the Google Apps package onto the SD card of your phone.
Three. Turn off the Note 2 and reboot it in Recovery mode by pressing and holding the volume up, volume down and power keys after the phone is turned off.
Four. Make a nAndroid backup for your present ROM which can be restored later if you need to. Select "backup and restore > backup." You can choose "restore" if you decide to go back to your old ROM.
Five. In your main menu, choose "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition." Then, go back and choose "advanced > wipe Dalvik cache."
Six. return to your main menu and choose "install zip from SD card > choose zip from SD card." Select the ROM zip file you copied onto your Note 2 and confirm the installation. Do this again with the Google Apps package.
Seven. Once the installation is done, return to the main menu and choose "reboot system now."
Eight. The Note 2 will now reboot and this might take five minutes for the first run of the latest ROM to finish.
If everything's gone right, you should now have Jelly Bean 4.2 installed on your Note 2 and you can get going with all that ParanoidAndroid brings, along with the AOKP ROM and Cyanogen.
