Stylish faux leather

First impressions are that the product is a powerful step up compared to its predecessor. The screen is bigger and brighter. So also the phone has grown, albeit not as much. But the first thing we notice is that the design is changed.

Gone are the shiny back in plastic. Instead, the phone is covered in imitation leather with a seam at the edge, not unlike what you find in the interior of some cars. We think it looks pretty cool and elegant.

Muscle Mobile

When we start up the phone, we discover that it is not just the outside that has received an overhaul. The hardware of the Samsung Galaxy Note is blazing fast. Programs start almost before you can click the icon to open them, and the contents of folders appear under our fingertips the moment we touch the folders.

engine is a four core processor clocked at 2.3 GHz. Now there’s no reason to believe that the trend has peaked, and that there will eventually be far more powerful processors than this. Yet – as the situation is today, it is hard to imagine the need to make a phone faster than this.

screen of the Galaxy Note 3 measures 5.7 inches. This is the part smaller than the Galaxy Mega and Sony’s new Xperia Ultra. These measures, respectively, 6.3 and 6.4 inches. But it is larger than the Galaxy Note II screen is of 5.5 inches.

Samsung retains AMOLED screen, but the resolution is improved. Note 3 has a full-HD display, which means 1080 x 1920 pixels. Note II has 720 x 1280 display. The difference is probably greater on paper than in practice. Both screens are very good, while the new words have significantly higher resolution.

Ability to coordinate with other models Note

An exciting feature that probably will never be used by anyone, is the possibility of putting more Galaxy Note 3 together to form a large screen. To build a 55-inch TV in this way, unless otherwise obtain the most expensive 55-inch model that is obtainable. Also, it will be like watching movies through a powerful grid.

This is a Note, and that means it comes with an S Pen. This is a tool that works as a pen, pencil or brush when you type on the screen. But it also has other functions. Among other things, it acts as a mouse, and manages a small point on the screen. There has also been some new features for the pen.

You can start a separate “air command”, providing quick access to various tools where the pen is located. One of these lets you draw a rectangle on the screen, and then choose which applications to run in the square. We did not try this myself, but got it demonstrated.

Samsung showed how this allows you to run multiple applications on the screen at once, which looks smart, but probably works even better on the larger Note 10.1, which also comes in an updated version. But to open the calculator on the screen without exiting the app you are working with, can obviously be useful on a mobile phone.

Air Command we also opened which Samsung calls the Action Memorandum. Here you can enter an address on the screen and then it recovered in Google Maps. You can also search or start phone calls by writing by hand in the Action Memorandum.

We also tried to snap a few photos with the phone. The result looks great on your mobile screen, but when we pick up the image on a larger screen, we see that there is a lot of noise and other artifacts in. It may be that the phone we tested is a prototype, but it could also be that the camera right simply is not better. We will find out when we get the phone to test.

Soon in Norway

We learned that the phone will go on sale in select markets as early as September. Norway will be among the 149 countries that have been selected. It would thus appear that Samsung have yourself organized, but we feel quite confident that it can emerge things that make the phone being a little late.
