Ashford with new courtship opposite Roan – Fosna people

“Ashford council refers to the decision of 7 June on the formal request to Roan and Åfjord for the purpose of dialogue to explore opportunities to join together in a future coastal municipality. This dialogue is based on the already signed letter of intent between Roan and Åfjord, and otherwise with the following basis:

Roan, Åfjord and Bjugn municipalities face significant growth opportunities ahead. With one of the world’s most productive marine areas along the coast, the municipalities based on the long tradition of fisheries be important contributors to ensure future food production. Large parts of the value chain within farming is already represented from hatcheries, feed production, farming and butchery business.

As the base for national commitment wind power and increased production of renewable energy, the municipality will be able to create skilled jobs and derivative industries that could help solve future increasing demand for environmentally friendly and renewable energy. With several tourist destinations and long traditions in construction and agriculture, the new municipality have good conditions for developing jobs in existing industries.

If these opportunities are managed well can provide the basis for significant growth throughout the amalgamated municipality. This requires cooperation and resources to build infrastructure, facilitating businesses to establish and develop, and ensure access to skilled labor. Different places have to develop each their advantages based on natural conditions.

Bjugn council will in connection with the establishment of a new and larger coastal municipality with Roan and Åfjord work and prioritize the following measures in infrastructure and transport:

1. Continue work on avalanche protection and accessibility of the FV 14 between Sumstad and Roan center, including support construction of the next tunnel between Hellfjord and Description Country Fjord.

2. The new municipality will support a new Fosen Package 2 which includes a bridge over the Trondheim Fjord and Stjørnfjord, striving to ensure that the last project in FV 14 Sumstad – Roan incorporated into this package.

3. Working for linking communications along the coast better together, by bridge over Åfjord maelstrom as the first subproject.

Administration Centre in the new municipality with political and administrative management added Åfjord, but the new municipality shall besides the ordinary service production be present in Roan through service office in Botngård through a corporate social house.

Bjugn council will work to further develop Botngård as an important nursery and education center at Fosen, with Fosen high school, elementary school, school, DPI etc.. At the same time vital functions placed in such a way that proximity and secure living and childhood environment can be safeguarded. This means that the current structures with physician offices in Botngård, Årnes and Roan maintained as today, and that it should still be secondary education at Åfjord high school. “
