On Wednesday morning wrote TV2 that athletes who have tested positive for the drug Meldonium still can escape punishment.
A document from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) from April 11 says that in plain athletes taken before 1. March may be acquitted because of uncertainty about how long the drug can be found in the body.
But this project outline will not affect the case of Ruth Kasirye, according to counsel in prosecuting Committee Anti-Doping Norway, Niels R. Kiær.
– it appears in the note to WADA that it does not apply when using Meldonium after 1 January. That use after January 1st is a violation regardless. It follows Kasiryes explanation that she took pills without checking anything until January 18, said Kiær to TV2.
– So for the matter to Kasirye will not this new project outline to WADA have any significance?
– It’s my preliminary view yes. The issue will be considered by the prosecuting committee, he said.
He emphasizes that Kasirye not admit use of Meldonium after January 1, but has acknowledged using a substance she knew by that time.
– We therefore believe that with the necessary strength is proven that she got Meldonium body after January 1, he said.
Media Responsible for Ruth Kasirye, Roger Solheim, told Wednesday morning TV 2 that Kasirye do not want to comment on the case while it is pending.
Meldonium came on doping list on 1 January this year. Heart medicine has side field a wide range of athletes at the highest level, including tennis star Maria Sharapova. Over 30 Russian athletes have passed in meldonium trap.
