Buses of biogas – Sande Blad

Vestfold county adopted last December that at least 70 percent of bus production in Vestfold be based on biogas as fuel.

– It is up to the operators which routes to be added into biofuels, but I would estimate that City Route Tonsberg and Route 2 between the library and Horten will go on biogas, says CEO Erik Gundersen Vestviken Kollektivtrafikk (VKT).

Significant reduction

Buses Vestfold produces 12,000 tons CO2 annually.

Tonsberg Municipality will assist with regulation of areas that may be appropriate for a plant.

A current location can be on Gulli, until E18. This area is in the proposed municipal development plan for 2014-2026 allocated for industrial purposes.

Is free to choose

The site is on 16 goals and is located just off the road E18 Gulli, the northern exit and entry at Tønsberg.

The plant may contain filler plants for biofuels , car wash installations and personnel. In a memo from Bydrift Tonsberg Municipality suggests that the plant can also be combined with a modern gas station.

– We ask operators free to choose the optimum location of such a plant, says Gundersen. A potential supplier of biogas buses, the plant is under construction at Rygg at Tønsberg landfill.

Fylkesrådmann Egil Johansen says that there are several alternative locations for a filling station in binoculars.

– But it should be centrally located in Tønsberg district, he said.

The locations will be decided in June to accommodate tender for transition to gas operation at 70 percent of the bus fleet.

On Gulli is one right in sensitive areas for ancient monuments. Tonsberg Municipality has therefore asked Heritage in county clarification.

Heritage shows that there are great opportunities for discovery of prehistoric sites in the area. Close been found graves, cooking pits, burial mounds, fireplaces, including from the early Iron Age, and cultural dated to the Middle Ages.
