Today, Oslo approximately 10,000 municipal housing. Almost half is in saws, Old Oslo and Grünerløkka. City Government has been criticized for social housing is concentrated in the inner east, but now will look towards Ullern Frogner, Vestre Aker, Nordre Aker and St. Hanshaugen.
– Of the 280 regular municipal housing municipality planning to buy the next three years, is 175 in western Oslo, says social councils Øystein Eriksen Søreide (H).
Oslo shall buy new municipal housing in the period 2015- 2017:
Should use 2.4 billion
According to the Commissioner shall be totally used 2.4 billion in new social housing in the finance period.
Søreide does not deny that it is expensive to buy council houses on the west side.
– We see that by buying in eastern districts with low prices could reach over 1.5 times as many homes as in the western districts with the highest housing prices. Yet it is important for us to spread the municipal housing stock throughout the city.
Then set of 940 million to secure the purchase of the 280 new dwellings.
Coming in addition to OBOS purchase
The 280 new homes come on top of OBOS purchase adopted earlier this autumn. OBOS agreement involves the purchase of 617 new council houses, but none of these are located in Ullern Vestre Aker or Frogner, something the opposition has been critical of.
Now do Commissioner clear that a majority of municipal housing to be purchased over the next three years will be located in western districts.
In Toyen Agreement states that Oslo will provide net 600 new council housing throughout the city by 2017. It this obligation is now redeemed, according to social Commissioner.
– When we bought 617 new OBOS dwellings in fall we committed ourselves simultaneously to sell 297 old municipal housing in the inner eastern. Since we now have set aside money to buy additional 280 homes over the next three years, we will come up in the net 600 new council houses well spread in all 15 districts.
Still great imbalances
Pr. 1. January 2018 there will still be a need for hundreds of municipal housing in Oslo. And still will saws have 2130 ordinary social housing, while Ullern will only have 182.
– Will you do more to spread the housing stock?
– When comes to the balance between neighborhood’s share of municipal housing, so it is a challenge that we get to address in the next financial plan period, responding Commissioner.
Do not want to buy all townhouses
The opposition believes the council has done too little to spread the municipal housing stock in Oslo. Leader of the City Council’s health and social committee, Tone Tellevik Dahl (Ap), had not received the note when Aftenposten contacted.
Immediately, she is pleased that the council is now directed his gaze westward. Meanwhile she is concerned that the city council are now buying more larger apartments.
– I assume that some of these are indeed suitable for larger families, and also assume that they are not buying the whole apartment buildings, says Tellevik Dahl.
