In time Google has gone a little away from focusing on widgets, while Apple has just entered the field with such a function.

Included in the app

Widgets are not separate apps in iOS 8, the supplied app you install.

There is an exception (we come to exactly this), but apart from this is the principle the same for all apps.

Once you have installed a new app, it’s just taking a Look at the warning center to see if it comes with a widget.

ADD: Click on the plus sign to add new widgets to the notification menu.

News

Not surprisingly, there are a bunch of news apps, and most major newspapers have support for widgets.

Try the New York Times, and VICE News.

Buzz Feed has its own widget with the its new app, as has News 360, which allows you to put together your own news section.

NBC’s Breaking News app has also been updated, and as the name suggests they promise only to serve you the most important news in news day.

The big online newspaper The Huffington Post has also a new app with widget support, they were actually one of the first.

Weather

Yahoo! Weather has long been a favorite weather app due sleek interface, and now comes with widgets too.

The Norwegian hangs not as handy.

Neither VG Pent.no app or Yr.no have widgets in their apps yet, but VG confirms the above DinSide that Pent.no app will be upgraded and that it also gets its own widget.

For DinSide.no confirm Norwegian media development that their Yr.no app will also be updated with widget support . The app will be launched before Christmas.

Advantage

Vidgets is the app only for these mini-programs.

Vidgets can add clock, temperature, calendar and a real time speedometer right to notice the menu.

You can even ask for your widget. Being able to close all open apps currently the most votes, with 10,122 stakeholders.

Another much sought after widget is the ability in real time to monitor data usage. Let’s hope the developers are quick on the ball.

We seem especially weather widget in Vidget is smart because it takes so little space. You can select the current temperature, or tomorrow’s.

PCalc gives you a full-fledged calculator that actually works in the notification center – very handy when you are in a hurry at the checkout.

You may be using Dropbox

Dropbox ‘app shows you a list of recent files you have uploaded to your account – click on a file and you will be forwarded to the Dropbox app for quick viewing.

Evernote is a widely used cloud-note app that is also upgraded with great features that make it easy to jot down the moment you get a brilliant idea or just need to remember something.

Unfortunately it acts like many of the other widgtene (minus PCalc), you can, in other words, do not write directly in the widget window, but sent to the app.

Amazon Kindle widget is very simple, and shows what books you read, and how far you have come. Click a title, and the book opens.
