Important Conservative meeting today: – VG

Erna Solberg determines the Oslo Olympics fate completely on your own, but it happens hardly today.

Wednesday, at 15 locks Erna Solberg inside the largest meeting room in the Parliamentary 4th floor. Where will she get advice from the Conservatives 48 members of parliament about what she and the government should do with Oslo’s Olympic application.

VG know that the meeting starts with the Conservative leader in the culture committee will present an internal memo and recommend that the Conservatives giving a “conditional yes” to the application and accompanying government guarantee.

Exactly what such a “conditional yes” means is for now unclear.

As VG previously reported there are no plans for a vote on the matter at the meeting.

There is therefore – in practice, regardless of what is said at the meeting – right up to Erna Solberg even determine the Olympic road ahead.

It is expected, therefore, no final decision today.

– I make no assessment of opportunities for the Olympics Oslo now. I will listen to what the Conservative Party Parliamentary Group have to say, the Prime Minister said to VG.

– What are your expectations for the meeting?

– We are not engaged with sports journalism and talk about excitement and expectations, answer Solberg.

Three scenarios

Sources VG has spoken to outline three possible scenarios after Wednesday’s meeting:

1) Conservative group gives Erna Solberg marching on setting a state guarantee for the Olympics. If the majority of the Conservative group is very large, it will be difficult for the government to oppose this.

2) A small majority in the Conservative group says even to the Olympics. If so, it will largely be up to the members of the government from the Conservatives to decide the case. Probably it will then be Erna Solberg personally determines the question.

3) A majority of the Conservative group says no to the Olympics. In that case it would be near impossible for Erna Solberg to go ahead with an Olympic-application and the Olympic dream will be shattered.

During the month of October must Erna Solberg make a final decision if she wants a third Winter Olympics on Norwegian soil.

By the end of the month, the case must be processed in government. The treated formally in the Council of State at the Royal Palace, the Progress seven ministers will take dissent if the Conservatives in to ask a state guarantee.

Labor with key

If Right and thus majority government advocates Olympics the case is sent Parliament for final processing.

When should also Labour take a stand on the matter.

Labor sources VG talking to says they think party will land on a yes to the Olympics if the Right First do the same.

As Labor’s parliamentary believed to be at least as divided as the Conservatives, however, Jonas Gahr Støre have to swing the party whip in the autumn.

– It is as far right mathematical assessment that labor must stand behind for it to be realized. But I respond to all proposals that would indicate that the government must notify the clear card first. If there is to be an application from Norway, the government must keep proper records of its own policies, then the Parliament – consider that the government is going to have Støre previously told VG.

before Parliament takes a Christmas break in mid-December must whole Olympics affair be formally voted on and passed in Parliament.

The final application must be sent namely IOC no later than January 7, 2015 When should a government guarantee in place. If not, Oslo is out of the competition.

“And the decision is …»

There are three IOC-approved applicant cities: Oslo, Beijing and Almaty

In late July, the IOC congress in Kuala Lumpur, and that is where the Olympic organizers in 2022 should be pointed out.

All IOC members vote, and the vote until one of the cities with more than half of the votes.

IOC discounted this week, an evaluation committee for the Games in 2022 after the IOC members for many years had been able to visit the applicant cities and see them with my own eyes, this was prohibited by the corruption scandal surrounding Salt Lake City Olympics in 2002

It appeared at the time that a large number of IOC members had been given money to Support Salt Lake City in the poll.

Putin friend behind billions crack considering Oslo

Oslo applying for hosting the Olympics in 2022, it is Vladimir Putin’s man Alekander Zhukov as will lead the evaluation committee of the IOC.

58-year-old former deputy prime minister, has been president of the Russian Olympic Committee since 2010 and is very close to President Putin. He was elected as IOC member last year. IOC has decided that he should be the head of the evaluation committee.

A committee headed by Zhukov will evaluate the candidates, but the choice of the venue being taken by IOC members in plenary.

– Each and one of these brings with it a wide range of expertise and experience and understand what it takes to liquidate sustainable, well-organized and ultimately successful Olympic Winter Games, said IOC President Thomas Bach on the evaluation committee in a statement.

Zhukov get with three IOC members on the committee: Barry Maister of New Zealand, Adam Pengilly of Great Britain and Tsunekazu Takeda of Japan.

Pengilly’s former Olympic competitor in luge, while Maister became Olympic champion in field hockey in 1976 Neither Maister or Takeda (former show jumper) have any special background in winter.

Zhukov was head of the organizing committee for this year’s Winter Olympics and Paralympics in Sochi. The price tag for the Games in Russia was around 300 billion. Games in Norway is expected to cost about one tenth of this.
