The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will be getting the Android 4.3 update very soon, according to one source.
KPopStarz said Samsung has decided to skip the Android 4.2.2 update, although there’s no concrete evidence as to whether this is true or not.
The website also hasn’t mentioned a date for the update, but it’s expected to roll out after the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is announced at IFA one September 4.
This has been confirmed by Australian network Telstra, who said the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will not be getting the Android 4.2.2 update at all, while Samsung concentrates on the Android 4.3 update instead.
The network released an update schedule of its devices that also revealed the Samsung Galaxy S4 update schedule has also been delayed until August 19. In fact, it will only begin to be tested by Samsung this week.
It was speculated earlier in the week that the update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Samsung Galaxy S3 updates to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean wouldn’t appear until later in the year and this comes as solid confirmation.
Android 4.2.2 features the following updates & bug fixes:
- Fixed Bluetooth audio streaming bugs
- Long-pressing the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth icons in Quick Settings now toggles the on/off state
- New download notifications, which now shows the percentage and estimated time remaining for active app downloads
- New sounds for wireless charging and low battery (for devices that support wireless charging)
- New Gallery app animation allows faster loading
- USB debug whitelist
- Bug fixes and performance enhancements
Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is said to bring a whole host of new features to devices including a new notifications system that allows third party developers to integrate them better into apps, better graphics in gaming, a new font and a new camera UI, previously rolled out to the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One Google Editions in the US.
Interestingly, the HTC One Android 4.2.2 update has already arrived in the UK. And the company’s recently announced HTC One Mini will also ship with the latest version of Google’s mobile OS.
We’re still awaiting confirmation from Samsung about whether the update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Samsung Galaxy S4 has been delayed, but we’ll update you as soon as we hear back from a spokesperson.
