Samsung is rolling out Android 4.2 to the Galaxy Note 8.0 while the Galaxy S III and Note II are made to wait
It seems to be a good week for Samsung users. Earlier, we saw Samsung pushing out the Android 4.2.2 update for its Galaxy Tab 2.7.0. Another device receiving an update was the Samsung Galaxy S II Plus. On the heels of that, Samsung is rolling out Android 4.2.2 for Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0.
Don't be alarmed if you don't immediately see an update notification in your device. The update is rolling out in phases and seems to have been made available for UK customers as of now. Other countries will certainly be receiving the update soon.
You can choose to update your device over-the-air or can make us of Samsung's smartphone utility, KIES. Make sure that your tablet is fully charged before taking the plunge.
Samsung is not going to stop at Android 4.2 for the Galaxy Note 8.0. The tablet will be receiving Android 5.0 when the time comes.
Among devi ces that have not yet received an update to Android 4.2, Samsung Galaxy Note II and the Samsung Galaxy S III are the most conspicuous. Samsung previous generation flagship smartphone and phablet respectively, users are still waiting for any news on Android 4.2.
Rumours have indicated that the two devices might be skipping Android 4.2, making the jump to Android 4.3 directly. The recently rolled out update for the Samsung Galaxy S II Plus confused many. Usually, Samsung focusses on pushing out updates to high-end devices before concentrating on lesser ones. This breaks the established trend and hints that both the devices will be getting the latest Android version directly, skipping over 4.2.
Android 4.2 was a minor update in the scheme of things and the direct jump should have little effect on the whole experience.
