Some collect stamps, others engaged in fly fishing. Kjell Marius Jenssen (37) from Sandefjord leader Association for e-cigarette users: Norwegian steam company, established on 6 November 2011, without ties to merchants and manufacturers of equipment.
Not only he organizes 4,000 of around 100,000 like-minded in Norway and has 9,000 sympathizers on Facebook. Twice 25 sandefjord units met to cultivate hobby together. They exchange experiences, spreading tips on equipment and parts enjoyment of what they regard as a harmless employs. For them there is neither tobacco or medicine.

Now they have gained new ammunition in the battle to make it easier to steam in Norway. Unlike the Norwegian government, which until now have been reluctant with regard to drop everything away, says Public Health England that e-cigarettes are 95 percent less harmful than smoking.

Most former smokers

Illegal to sell nicotine
It is primarily access to nicotine which is obstacle for steamers in Norway.
The vendors will not sell nicotine. Liquid with only taste however is quite ok. Electronic cigarettes without nicotine may be sold under 18-year age limit, but the scope of ‘advertising and display ban. ” Regulations were introduced in 1989 because the health authorities wished to limit the number of new tobacco and nicotine products and because it was felt there were enough such products.
Two websites in Sandefjord among providers of steam equipment and liquid: steamlab.no, where Kim-Ron Riff Gundersen is CEO and Svenn Rune Seljeseth leader board, and dampevarer.no, run by Dag Einar Vistad Hansen. They indicate on their websites that they only sell legal products.
– The fact that nicotine sales are illegal makes it more difficult for us users. We have to buy it from internet companies or traveling in EU countries where it is permitted to sell, says Kjell Marius Jenssen.
Consultation Document on the corner
Director Hilde Slide Ulstad Directorate of Health states that the Losar delivered a note to the Ministry of Health to regulate e-cigarettes. The matter is under consideration in the Ministry and the Directorate input is therefore until further confidential. A consultation document will probably come from the ministry a few weeks.
This mean Norwegian health authorities:
- Health authorities in Norway does not recommend e-cigarettes today.
- Only e-cigarettes without nicotine can be sold in Norway.
- Not enough scientific evidence to say with certainty how effective e-cigarettes is that method of quitting.
- Simple Studies have shown that e-cigarettes can reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms in withdrawal or smoking cessation.
- Health Directorate does not dismiss the possibility that e-cigarettes can be a useful tool, but it will require documentation through scientific studies of sufficient quality before possibly would recommend method.
