Jernbaneverket will put away option with sunken station in West corridor – Hamar Municipality

In connection with treatment planning program for municipal for double track stretch Sorli – Brumunddal (June 2015) adopted Hamar council in addition to Jernbaneverkets proposal following:

“It is assumed that H1 takes the paper tunnel / lowered option see council decision from 06.06.2012. “

The decision referred to in 2012 was the municipality’s treatment of submission of Concept Study for IC distance Oslo – Lillehammer (KVU IC).

Jernbaneverket on Based on this decision made a quality of previous studies.

Read Jernbaneverkets note here.

The conclusion of note are summarized as follows:

The proposal has some qualities in relation to the continued alternatives. Nevertheless, we can not recommend to examine the proposal further on the basis of the following factors:

 • The proposal would result in a 14 km long tunnel. Of regard for preservation, it is uncertain whether it will be allowed the construction of culverts through Åker Vika. If such an intervention must be carried must be approved in relation to protection provisions under the Ramsar Convention. About construction permitted is construction period long and damaging effects on the natural environment assumed large.

 • The costs are estimated significantly higher

 • All station with five parallel tracks and platforms and connection to Rørosbanen must be submerged in a deep culvert waterproof. Construction of this will be very challenging construction technical, bl. a. with protection against buoyancy and securing construction pits against water during construction.

 • Major challenges associated with operating in the construction period, requiring the closure of the existing path over longer time periods.

 • Large lot of profit and big need for landfill of masses.

 • Significantly higher greenhouse gas emissions related to plant operation than any other alternative.

 • A complex solution with many technical installations and turnouts in tunnels, which provide challenges related to uptime and reliability in the production phase.

 • The continued alternatives safeguards qualities in this recessed solution at a far lower cost.

Hamar Municipality will present the note that is now available from National Rail for political discussion in council, on the basis of the political order .

National Rail is continuing to examine options within corridor Vest with both short and long tunnel, but where the station is located in the day.
