Snapdragon 600 Powered Samsung Galaxy Note 2 In The Making? - G 4 Games

Lately, there has been a lot of talk surrounding Samsung’s foreseeable plans on the mobile market, specifically the launch of the Snapdragon 800-powered Galaxy S4 and the upcoming Galaxy Note 3. But what if I were to tell you that the Korean manufacturer might also work on a new Galaxy Note 2 model? Pretty odd, right?

Judging by today’s standards, the Galaxy Note 2 is not really a top-of-the-line smartphone anymore as it has to carry on with last-year’s hardware specifications. However, recent findings have revealed that a new Note 2 variant might be in the works. Check out the details below.

Is Samsung Working on a New Snapdragon 600-Powered Galaxy Note 2 Variant?

Is Samsung Working on a New Snapdragon 600-Powered Galaxy Note 2 Variant?

The idea that Samsung is working on a new Note 2 variant is not necessarily a fresh one, as the model number GT-N7018D has been previously certified by the FCC and has also made an appearance on the official Bluetooth SIG website. However, this is the first time when this mysterious device has been spotted in AnTuTu, giving us a glimpse at what type of hardware it could pack under the hood. Apparently, the gadget boasts Android 4.2.2 and a 1.9 GHz processor able to score 26,901 points.

Although there‚Äôs no mention of what type of processor we‚Äôre looking at, based on the specs and score, we‚Äôre evidently considering the possibility that this gadget runs on the Snapdragon 600 SoC. Why would Samsung work on a new Note 2 variant? Well, with the inevitable arrival of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and with other manufacturers showing an increasing interest in this particular market segment, our guesses are that the Korean giant could plan on releasing a more affordable Note alternative that should cover the mid-range market segment. A refreshed Note 2 might just do the trick. (I know, there‚Äôs the Mega series too, but the 6.3 display might be too much for some and both the 6.3 and the 5.8 models are just not powerful enough or too well-equipped to be considered the Note 3‚Ä?s more affordable siblings.)

One last thing to note is that, based on the information that has surfaced thus far, the GT-N7108D has been tipped for a release in Asia, but we shouldn’t dismiss the idea that the gadget might make it on the western market as well (assuming of course that it’s going to become a reality).

Any thoughts? Would you be interested in an refreshed Samsung Galaxy Note 2? Let us know in the comments section.

Bond Prices Dip As Demand At 2-Yr. Note Auction Falls - Investor's Business Daily

Treasuries fell for the first time in three days as an auction of U.S. two-year notes attracted lower-than-average demand with the Federal Reserve likely moving closer to winding down its asset-purchase program.

The bid-to-cover ratio on the $ 35 billion in notes, which gauges demand by comparing total bids with the amount of securities offered, was 3.08, compared with an average of 3.54 for the past 10 sales. The Fed will start trimming its $ 85 billion in monthly bond purchases in September, according to a survey of economists by Bloomberg News released today. The U.S. will sell $ 35 billion in five-year debt tomorrow and $ 29 billion in seven-year securities on July 25.

“The market is settling back into the fact that tapering is going to occur,” said Thomas Roth, senior Treasury trader in New York at Mitsubishi UFJ Securities USA Inc. “The market is defining 2.50% on 10s as a level that kind of makes sense.”

The U.S. 10-year yield rose three basis points, or 0.03 percentage point, to 2.51% at 5 p.m. ET, according to Bloomberg Bond Trader prices. The 1.75% note due in May 2023 fell 6/32, or $ 1.88 per $ 1,000 face amount, to 93-15/32.

The current two-year note yield was little changed at 0.31%.

Treasury trading volume at ICAP, the largest inter-dealer broker of U.S. government debt, was $ 246.7 billion, up from $ 194 billion yesterday, the highest level since July 5. The 2013 average is $ 318.8 billion.

Volatility in Treasuries as measured by the Merrill Lynch Option Volatility Estimate MOVE Index was at 74.05, up from Monday’s 72.62, the lowest level since May 24. The figure is down from 117.89 on July 5, the highest since December 2010. The one-year average is 64.8.

Today’s two-year note auction drew a yield of 0.336%, compared with a forecast of 0.338% in a Bloomberg News survey of seven of the Federal Reserve’s 21 primary dealers.

Demand as measured by the ratio of bids to debt sold was “lighter” than average, said Thomas di Galoma, head of U.S. rates sales at ED&F Man Capital Markets in New York. “The five-year’s going to be a little more difficult just because the five-year sector has rebounded off its lows.”

Two-year notes have gained 0.1% this year, compared with a decline of 2.3% by Treasuries overall, according to Bank of America Merrill Lynch indexes. The two-year securities returned 0.3% in 2012, while Treasuries overall rose 2.2%.

Investors have bid $ 2.93 for each dollar of the $ 1.193 trillion in U.S. government notes and bonds sold at auction so far this year, according to Treasury data compiled by Bloomberg.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 spotted with Snapdragon 600 CPU - Know Your Mobile

A new Samsung Galaxy Note 2 could be on the horizon, shipping with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 CPU.

The device surfaced on G4 Games, who discovered a mysterious device on AnTuTu.

The device is listed as running on Android 4.2.2, with a 1.9 GHz processor and achieving 26,901 points.

The website then came to the conclusion a device with these scores must be running with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor inside. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor is the same CPU as seen in the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4.

G4 Games said, ‘with the inevitable arrival of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and with other manufacturers showing an increasing interest in this particular market segment, our guesses are that the Korean giant could plan on releasing a more affordable Note alternative that should cover the mid-range market segment.’

A slightly different version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, with the model number GT-N7018D has been previously certified by the FCC and has also appeared on the official Bluetooth SIG website. not many details were revealed about either of these devices, but it’s though they could be referring to the device just spotted on AnTuTu.

This version will most probably be reserved for Asian or less developed countries, but we can but hope it will be hitting UK shores at a cut-price cost.

Samsung Galaxy Note II with Snapdragon 600 surfaces - GSMArena.com

Samsung launched its second-generation Galaxy Note phablet last Fall and we are already waiting for its Galaxy Note III successor to come. It appears, though that the Koreans aren’t done with their previous-gen phablet according to a leaked benchmark result, which points to a refreshed version of the Note II. The device was allegedly rocking the Snapdragon 600 chipset and not the Exynos 4412 it originally packs.

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note II variant was spotted in an AnTuTu benchmark database and its entry revealed its N7108D model number. The original Galaxy Note II was carrying the N7100 model code. The last digit suggests that the new device is headed to China and the benchmark entry itself was submitted from there, so we might not see a global release of the refreshed version.

Anyway, the scorecard gave a sneak peak at some of the specs of the updated Galaxy Note II. The phablet will be powered by a Snapdragon 600 processor clocked at 1.9 GHz (just like the one in the Galaxy S4 I9505 version) and will run on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

Impressively enough, the supposedly upcoming Galaxy Note II variant has managed to score 26,901 points. That is a significant upgrade over the currently available international version that managed just 13,562 points on the same test.

Unfortunately, there is no official word from Samsung yet and there is no confirmation on the authenticity of the benchmark result, so take it all with a pinch of salt.

Samsung Galaxy S3, Note 2 Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Update Delayed Until the ... - International Business Times AU

The Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS would make a perfect Christmas gift for Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note 2 owners.

According to reports, Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note 2 may receive their next Jelly Bean update in November or December.

Samsung Galaxy S4′s sales caused the delayed release date of the update. However, SamMobile tweeted that TouchWiz UI and other issues caused the delay.

Last week, the firmware update for Jelly Bean 4.2.2 for the Galaxy S3 was leaked online. The leak showed some Samsung Galaxy S4 apps, lock screen, transitions, and effects.

However, Australian wireless carrier Telstra confirmed that the Galaxy Note 2 on its network will not be receiving Android 4.2.2. Did this mean that the Galaxy S3 will not receive it either?

Owners of the said devices should not worry since only handsets from Telstra will not receive the update so there might be hope for your smartphone.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 and the second generation of Samsung’s phablet were currently running with 4.1 version of Jelly Bean OS. The roll out of the upgrade was still tentative. However, impatient users who want to install the update may use the custom ROM.

Competitors of Samsung such as HTC and Sony already released the 4.2.2 version of Android Jelly Bean OS to its respective devices.

The 4.2.2 version of Jelly Bean OS will provide upgraded features into your handset such as better camera software. Some of the other perks of updating you device were: battery life and some other parts of your tablet’s UI will be improved.

If you cannot wait for the official upgrade of your devices, you may refer to the links below on how to root and update your Samsung smartphones to the latest Jelly Bean OS.

Most are quite confident that a sequel to the current Galaxy II is on the way. Currently, however, Samsung has not said anything about what’s coming, and the waiting must adhere to the rumor mill. Now, however, it appeared even a hint of the coming giant.

Performance Tests with official rankings of results has in fact been a regular venue for the unveiling of the new mobile phones. This time it AnTuTus logs åsstedet. There are probably two different versions of the Galaxy III who have been driven out.

Three different variants Note

All three times have emerged values ??for what is believed to be the Galaxy III. A while back got one of these phones 27 913 points in the test, but the chip in the phone system was specified to run 1.6GHz.

Before the weekend turned the phone up again. This time it is stated that the phone has a system chip running at 1.9 GHz. The jump in performance is huge – at 33 082 points got the phone in the test that appeared before the weekend.

Thus, it is intriguing that the test that has just emerged showing a higher clock rate, but a lower score, for what is expected to be a Galaxy III variant for the U.S. operator Verizon.

Higher speeds, fewer points

The final performance test shows namely a score of 28,786 points, with a system chip ticking at 2.26 GHz. It is argued that in the case of system chip from Qualcomm Snapdragon 800.

higher clock speeds and lower power than previous tests may mean that the earlier tests have been done with other hardware. Rumour has it that these phones running Samsung’s an updated version of Samsung’s Exynos 5 Octa-piece.

A model for each market?

It seems therefore imminently likely that Samsung will choose the same strategy for the Galaxy III as they have done for their other top models in recent months – namely different hardware for different markets.

There is still much here that is unknown. If we look at the Sony Xperia Z Ultra, which also runs Snapdragon 800, we know that it has achieved the 34 578 points in AnTuTu, which is more than what appears to have been the strongest Note III variant running the test.

It is expected that Samsung will launch the new model ahead of this year’s IFA trade show in Berlin. The show starts 6 September, but by Amobil.no present a few days in advance, and will bring you all the news as soon as we have them.

Sony Xperia Z Ultra vs. Samsung Galaxy Note 2 - 3G.co.uk

Samsung have been experimenting with massive handsets for a while now and until the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 arrives the Note 2 is the best they have to offer. Giant phones aren't purely Samsung's domain anymore though, as Sony are set to release a challenger in the form of the Sony Xperia Z Ultra. Read on for all the key similarities and differences between the two handsets.

Sony Xperia Z Ultra vs Samsung Galaxy Note 2 – Build quality

The Sony Xperia Z Ultra is a stylish device. It essentially looks like a large version of the Sony Xperia Z, complete with the same metallic frame and glass back. It's also IP58 certified waterproof and dustproof.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 definitely looks the cheaper of the two, with a totally plastic body, though the sides at least look metallic. It also doesn't have the waterproof and dustproof credentials of the Sony Xperia Z Ultra, so the overall build quality is undoubtedly worse.

Sony Xperia Z Ultra vs Samsung Galaxy Note 2 – Display

The Sony Xperia Z Ultra has a massive 6.4 inch 1080 x 1920 display with 344 pixels per inch, which is impressive given the size of the screen.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has a rather more restrained, though still large, 5.5 inch display with a lower 720 x 1280 resolution. Despite being a smaller handset, that lower resolution still leaves it with fewer pixels per inch at just 267 ppi. Whether the size is better or worse is subjective but it's undoubtedly lower quality.

Sony Xperia Z Ultra vs Samsung Galaxy Note 2 – Power

The Sony Xperia Z Ultra has a 2.2 GHz quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM. That should be enough to run rings around even the Samsung Galaxy S4, which right now is the most powerful smartphone on the market.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is very powerful itself, featuring 2GB of RAM just like the Sony Xperia Z Ultra. However its 1.6 GHz processor, while great in its own right, can't begin to compete with the power of the Xperia Z Ultra's processor.

Sony Xperia Z Ultra vs Samsung Galaxy Note 2 – Camera

The Sony Xperia Z Ultra has an 8 megapixel camera which can also shoot 1080p video at 30fps. It also has a 2 megapixel front facing camera.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 more or less matches it with an 8 megapixel snapper of its own, which can also shoot 1080p video at 30fps, alongside a 1.9 megapixel front facing camera.

Sony Xperia Z Ultra vs Samsung Galaxy Note 2 – Battery life, memory and connectivity

The Sony Xperia Z Ultra has a 3050 mAh battery, promising up to 890 hours of standby time on 3G or 16 hours of 3G talk time. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has a slightly bigger 3100 mAh battery, with a marginally longer 890 hour standby time and the same 16 hour talk time on 3G.

The Sony Xperia Z Ultra has 16GB of built in memory and a micro SD card slot with support for cards of up to 64GB. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has a choice of 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of built in storage and then also supports micro SD cards of up to 64GB.

The two handsets have roughly the same selection of connectivity options, with both handsets supporting Wi-Fi, 3G, 4G, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC.

Sony Xperia Z Ultra vs Samsung Galaxy Note 2 – Conclusion

The Sony Xperia Z Ultra is clearly a superior handset to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. It has a far higher build quality – as well as being waterproof and dustproof. It also has a faster processor and a much higher resolution screen.

But it doesn't win at everything. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has a marginally better battery life and potentially more storage, while both handsets have the same amount of RAM, the same connectivity options and similar cameras.

The Sony Xperia Z Ultra has a bigger screen than the Galaxy Note 2, but that's not necessarily a good thing, as it depends on how big you actually want the screen on your phone to be. At 6.4 inches it's really pushing the limits of being pocket sized. It's also likely to retail for substantially more than the Galaxy Note 2 and while it's more powerful that extra horsepower isn't likely to be very noticeable.

So the Sony Xperia Z Ultra is the better of the two, but the higher price and lower portability mean it may not be the best choice for everyone.

Galaxy Note II To Skip Android 4.2.2 Update, Will Get Android 4.3 Instead - Geeky gadgets

Galaxy Note II To Skip Android 4.2.2 Update, Will Get Android 4.3 Instead

A few days back, a rumor suggested that a number of Samsung devices will skip the Android 4.2.2 Update and will be updated directly Android 4.3. It looks like the rumor turned out to be correct, at least for Galaxy Note II. Australian carrier Telstra has announced that the Galaxy Note II 4G will indeed skip Android 4.2.2 and will be updated to the "newer version" of Android, which is expected to be Android 4.3. Rumors have it that the search engine giant will unveil Android 4.3 very soon along with the second generation Nexus tablet.

galaxy note 2 update

According to Telstra,

Samsung have elected globally to skip the 4.2.2 update for this device and will instead go to a newer version of Android. No schedule has been provided for this update.

Hopefully, the update will be released globally and all Note II users can rest assured that there device will receive the next big update. The time frame cannot be confirmed as it can take weeks or may be months for all Note II users to get their hands on the update.

It does sound reasonable to update the devices directly to Android 4.3. Earlier rumors also mentioned that Galaxy SIII will also get the Android 4.3 update but there is no word about it, as of now. But we hope that it will also get the update sooner or later.

Another interesting thing that can be seen from the schedule is the Windows Phone 8 GDR2 update for Lumia 920. It is expected that the Telstra powered Lumia 920 will get the update on 14 August if everything goes well with the testing. HTC 8X has been receiving the update already and we hope that other Windows Phone 8 devices will also get the taste of the GDR2 update.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2, S3 Android 4.2 update bypass - Phones Review

Samsung Galaxy Note 2, S3 Android 4.2 update bypass

The updating of various Android hardware to later versions of the operating system can quite often become a long drawn out process, with certain manufacturers and carriers having a worse record than others. Today it seems that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 will be bypassing the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update.

Almost a week ago we heard a rumour that the Android 4.2 update for the Samsung Galaxy S3 could be released at some point this month, but it seems the S3 and the Galaxy Note 2 will be updated straight to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean instead.

Australian carrier Telstra has stated that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 4.2 update has been "withdrawn" by the company in favour of a newer version of the mobile operating system, which must mean the Android 4.3 update.

We even suggested a few days ago that Samsung should just skip the Android 4.2.2 update in favour for the newer firmware following a rumour it might happen. As long as users are not kept waiting too much longer it makes perfect sense to just go straight to the latest version of the OS that is available.

It seems almost certain now that we will get to see Android 4.3 officially next week at the upcoming Google press event, but Samsung has yet to state anything themselves about the Android updates for the Galaxy S3 or Galaxy Note 2.

The Android 4.3 update is likely to hit Nexus hardware a short time after being made official, and we have already seen it running on a Nexus 4. This should then be followed by the Google Play Edition devices from HTC and Samsung.

There isn't believed to be many new features coming in this latest update but it does include the likes of Bluetooth LE, and improved battery life which is always welcomed.

Do you like the idea of the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 jumping straight to Android 4.3?

The rollout of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system update for Samsung‘s Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 has been reportedly cancelled for a newer version of Android.

According to GottaBeMobile.com, Australian mobile network carrier Telstra has informed its customers that the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system update has been withdrawn and Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is expected to get a newer version of Android. “Samsung had delayed the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.2 updates again and because of that, it would likely be moving on to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean instead,” the website stated.

The high-end Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 have been rumoured to get the Android Jelly Bean update. A recent report claimed that the update will be delayed due to issues with the new TouchWiz.

“Samsung have elected globally to skip the 4.2.2 update for this device and will instead go to a newer version of Android. No schedule has been provided for this update,” said network carrier Telstra.

Goggle is expected to release the next version of Android in the coming days. The company is holding a press event on 24 July where the unveiling of Android 4.3 operating system is expected to take place. The version is expected to hit Nexus 4 and Google Play Edition devices soon after the launch.

Sony Xperia Z Ultra vs Galaxy Note 2: Big phones fight in video - CNET UK

Sony’s spangly new Xperia Z Ultra is a ludicrously huge new smart phone, ready to wrassle with the king of the gigantophones — the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

How does Sony’s new toy compare to Samsung’s heavyweight? It has a 6.4-inch 1080p display and a quad-core processor clocked at an appallingly quick 2.2GHz, but is that enough to put the frighteners on Samsung? Click play on the video above to hear all the key features of both phones, and how they compare.

Would you rather have a screen so massive you could eat your dinner off it, or something you could just about slide into your jeans pocket? Would you adore a built-in stylus, or is it more important that your phone withstands an accidental trip down the toilet?

Both phones are exciting, but anyone in the market for a massive mobile should also be aware that Samsung is likely to reveal a follow-up to the Note 2 in September, a phone that’s likely to be bigger, faster and crammed with more features than the current model.

Watch the video to see both phones in up-close hands-on-o-vision, and let me know which of these gigantic mobiles you prefer by way of the comments, or on our Facebook wall.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and S3 skipping Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update ... - PopHerald.com

A new rumor is suggesting that the Note 2 and the S3 would skip Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and will jump straight to Android 4.3. Meanwhile, Samsung is still selling the Samsung Galaxy S4 with Android 4.2.2 and the company is set to unveil the new Galaxy S3, also expected to run Android 4.2.2 or Android 4.3.

JULY 18, 2013, 1:31 PM. Article by Raphael Labuguen.

Whether Samsung would admit it or not — it's quite obvious that the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy Note 2 and the Samsung Galaxy S3 is already delayed, though Android 4.1.2 is more than enough to satisfy some customers. However, season Galaxy owners want the latest and greatest versions of Android too — so where's the latest Jelly Bean OTA that Samsung has promised?

And here it is — a new rumor claiming that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the Samsung Galaxy S3 are both skipping Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and will jump straight to Android 4.3, an unannounced version of Android update as of date. Well, I'll give Samsung a round of applause for its convincing reason — but not all S3 and Note 2 owners are happy.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean 4.2 update still missing in action.

Android 4.2 is considered a minor update, but on Google's own logs, it shows that Android 4.2 is very important because it improves a phones' user interface. Here's the list of benefits of running Android 4.2 according to the Google Android team:

First: Everything in Jelly Bean feels fast, fluid, and smooth. Moving between home screens and switching between apps is effortless, like turning the pages of a book.

Secondly: Jelly Bean improves performance throughout the system, including faster orientation changes, quicker switching between recent apps, and smoother and more consistent rendering across the system through vsync and triple buffering.

And lastly: Jelly Bean has more reactive and uniform touch responses, and makes your Android device even more responsive by boosting your device's CPU instantly when you touch the screen, and turns it down when you don't need it to improve battery life.

See more on Google's Android Jelly Bean documentation.

Of course we all should take this skipping rumors with a grain of salt despite the fact that ever-credible CNET already published the piece on its popular site which adds credence to this claim.

In the United States, wireless carriers already started updating their Galaxy S3 phones to Android 4.1.2, months after the international unlocked model received the update. It clearly shows that all United States-based models are on the backseat when it comes to Samsung Android updates, and if this new Android 4.3 rumor is true — then you may need to wait until next year for your Galaxy Note 2 or Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean "4.3? OTA.

Also, keep in mind that Samsung is already selling the Galaxy S4, and not updating the S3 to the latest update with the new TouchWiz would give Samsung a higher chance to convince the S3 user to purchase the Galaxy S4. And for the Galaxy Note 2, Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Note 3 later this year, and similarly, not updating the Note 2 to latest software would push users to wait and switch to the new phone.

Samsung Galaxy S3 & Note 2 Android 4.2.2 Update 4 Months Off? - SidhTech

It appears that the update to Jelly Bean 4.2.2 could have been delayed for some time for the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note 2. IB Times said that the update may not arrive until November or December. It seems that the update depends on the sales of the Samsung Galaxy S4, but SamMobile has said that it could be delayed thanks to issues with the TouchWiz software. The 1GB of RAM could also be an issue.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean 4.2.2 update was recently leaked online and the software came with new effects, lock screen, transitions and some apps that are exclusive to the Samsung Galaxy S4. The camera app was the only thing that did not come in the update, other than this everything works.

The sales figures could therefore be the issue.

When the Samsung Galaxy S4 first came out it sold well, but now the sales figures don't match those of the Samsung Galaxy S3 at the same time last year.

Samsung may be holding onto the update so that the Samsung Galaxy S4 keeps the apps exclusive, so as to push sales. This could be why they are not releasing it for the Samsung Galaxy S3.

Samsung may want to wait and give the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.3 or Key Lime Pie, which may be out in October. Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note 2 could then get the update to 4.2.2. people would then be able to choose either the Samsung Galaxy S3 with apps from the Samsung Galaxy S4 with Jelly Bean 4.2.2 or they could go for the Samsung Galaxy S4 with Key Lime Pie.

Samsung Galaxy S3, Note 2 Android 4.2.2 or 4.3 official update - In Entertainment

Rumours suggest Samsung is already commencing work on the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update with the intention of bringing this to their new devices with talk about the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 jumping directly to the next update, thus avoiding the Android 4.2.2.

This may be just speculation at the moment, as sources close to Samsung India are giving us the impression that the two updates will be experienced on both of these products.

Previous leaks about Android 4.2.2 on the Galaxy S3 have also mentioned an Android 4.3 build for the Galaxy S4 Google Play edition, and Android Authority highlight how certain new devices could skip the latest update to run the latest Android OS available.

Samsung Galaxy S3, Note 2 Android 4.2.2 or 4.3 official update

Other reports discuss the possibility of an Android 4.2.2 for the Galaxy Note 2 and S3 arriving in November, as opposed to the expected July date, and if this is the case we can see a reason for the devices to miss out on the 4.2.2 altogether.

In addition, there have been suggestions that the Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy Note 3 will all be further upgradeable when it comes to the next major Android update, although they will not all be receiving this at the same time. Are you getting impatient about the arrival of more updates for your device?

Optimus, we hardly knew you – LG Optimus G successor officially named 'G2? - Android Authority

LG G2

LG has been making more than a few right moves over the past several quarters, despite not making records in terms of sales of their smartphones, either in the U.S. or globally. Today, LG brings us an official announcement:

The next flagship device from LG Electronics (LG) will be officially known as G2 and will be the first smartphone from LG to be launched as part of the company's new "G" premium brand
Dr. Jong-seok Park

Where once we had the Nexus 4 and what it did for the acclaim of the Nexus franchise, we now have LG playing a close game of cat and mouse with its fraternal foe, incumbent Samsung of South Korea. Shortly thereafter, we saw the Optimus G, an excellent device in its own right, that, once again, didn't make 'huge' waves.

S4 vs Optimus G Pro

S4 vs Optimus G Pro

Most recently LG impressed us with their beautiful Optimus G Pro, a device designed to preemptively attack Samsung's Galaxy Note series before the launch of the Galaxy Note 3, something likely to happen at IFA Berlin, in early September.

Looking forward and with regards to the LG G2, we'll be on the ground in New York on August 7th to give you an up close and personal look at the brand new LG G2, which should be a very impressive, Snapdragon 800 toting powerhouse of a device!

Stay tuned!

LG ALIGNS PREMIUM SMARTPHONE BEHIND NEW "G" NAME

SEOUL, July 19, 2013 — The next flagship device from LG Electronics (LG) will be officially known as G2 and will be the first smartphone from LG to be launched as part of the company's new "G" premium brand. Future smartphones in the same series will carry only the G name while the branding of mobile devices that have already been introduced will continue unchanged.

"Our vision is to make LG's newest G devices synonymous with excellence, raising the bar even further for the ultimate in user experience," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. "The new G2 will build upon the excellent reputation established by previous G Series products."

Furthermore, LG's premium 4:3 display smartphones will be rebranded as simply "Vu:" going forward. All of LG's smartphones feature next generation core technologies and familiar UX with each series highlighting a different facet of the company's product expertise.

Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note 2 to receive Android 4.3 Update, Skipping ... - Android Geeks

Galaxy S3 and Note 2 to receive Android 4.3 update while Android 4.2.2 OTA Update will be skipped all together
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100
  • Samsung Galaxy S3

More and more rumors are emerging and people seem to think that the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OTA Update won't be released for the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3, which means that the next upgrade will be directly to Android 4.3. All these news might eventually turn to be true, as Samsung has already pushed the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update to November and, we might see the release of a new OS until then.

Google is still working on the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean release date and this shouldn't take long before it will be available for devices worldwide. However, even if Google releases the new official Jelly Bean 4.3 update next week, Samsung will still take their time before upgrading the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 devices. More info should be available by the end of this month.

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean Update should pack Bluetooth LE, WiFi Always Scanning support, new notifications bar, tweaked camera software, enhanced Google Now capabilities, more toggles, UI color changes, better battery life management and multiple others. Also, when the update will hit the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 phones, we might also see the brand new 360 degrees panorama function added to the camera software. These news apply only for the international versions of these devices, while the US ones are expected to get the next Android OS update by the end of 2013.

There are already some Android 4.2.2 ROMs leaked for the Samsung Galaxy S3, which makes us wonder why would there be such stock Jelly Bean 4.2.2 ROMs leaked and not seeing the final versions available for the S3 phone. It is possible for the Galaxy Note 2 not to receive the update and getting upgraded directly to Android 4.3 build when that will be launched. Post your opinions in the comments field below and tell us what you think about these rumors.

Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Update For Galaxy Note 8.0 Reportedly Leaked - Android Geeks

Samsung-Galaxy-Note-8.0

If by any chance you happen to own a Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0, you should be happy to hear that the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for the Wi-Fi model of the tablet has been leaked, and you are free to get it. Even though the phone make hasn't officially released the firmware upgrade yet, online publication Sam Mobile claims that the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy Note 8.0 is "completely official", adding that after the software is installed the battery life of the tablet will be improved, and the OS itself will run smoother.

Not long ago, a leaked Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean ROM for the Galaxy S3 has also appeared. However, it seems that the former Samsung flagship, as well as the Galaxy Note 2, will be updated directly to Android 4.3, according to a recent rumor. Sam Mobile also provides a set of steps on how to install the firmware upgrade on your Galaxy Note 8.0 (remember that we are talking about the Wi-Fi version). The instructions should be followed carefully by those who want to but the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean ROM to the test.

We do not encourage anybody to install software that is not official, and if something happens to your device you will be the only one responsible. However, if you follow the instructions you will be just fine. Also, it's better if you back up all your data before beginning the process.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 was announced by the company at MWC 2013 and it has been available for purchase for quite a while. The tablet may be seen as a rival of the iPad Mini, but it's a lot better in terms of specs than Apple's product, hence its price. The Galaxy Note 8.0 is a little more expensive than the other tablets in its class, such as the Galaxy Tab line, which is more budget friendly. The device currently runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.

Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 could jump to Android 4.3 - The Full Signal

If you're the owner of either a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 or a Samsung Galaxy S3, you might be in for a bit of a long wait for an update, with a leak suggesting that Samsung doesn't plan to roll out a software upgrade for either device until at least November…or maybe even not until December.

It's not all bad news though, as the reason for this decision is apparently so that Samsung can take advantage of the newest version of Android when it's released, Jelly Bean 4.3. According to the source, Samsung plans to avoid the incremental 4.2.2 update to Android altogether and wait until the next big release, giving users all of the new tweaks and features, ostensibly to tide them over until the Key Lime Pie is ready.

  • Android Key Lime Pie release date and spec rumors

Sources also claim that Samsung will definitely be giving the alleged Android 5.0 update to the Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 2 and the as-yet unannounced Galaxy Note 3, although this may be jumping the gun somewhat, seeing as Google hasn't actually officially acknowledged a 5.0 update at all yet.

Assumptions are being made about the next releases from Android, with most guessing that the next release will be 4.3, the last version of Jelly Bean, followed by a 5.0, which is assumed to be Key Lime Pie. Tipsters are also assuming that Key Lime Pie, or 5.0, will be released with the next Nexus handset from Google, which has been tentatively given the moniker the Nexus 5.

We're not sure that Samsung customers will see the companies' decision as a good one, as it means that their premium device could be running an operation system that's two iterations behind by the times they eventually get their update. As 4.2.2 was intended to fix various bugs, this could mean that customers’ devices will become increasingly problematic in the meantime. Having said that, come December they could be rocking the fastest, most stable devices on the block…which is nice.

Hey Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Fans, Feast Your Eyes On This! - SidhTech

One of the most popular and unique handsets to come out of 2012 was the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Due to its large size you cannot really call it a smartphone and it has been dubbed a phablet, which happens to be a cross between a phone and a tablet.

One of the main reasons why the device was so popular was down to the large 5.5 inch display. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is the only Android handset to have the S Pen stylus. Samsung included S Pen apps which help you to make the most of the S Pen.

Other unique features of the handset include Multi-windows, which allows the device to run two apps in windows independently on split screens. Along with its unique features the device comes packed with serious hardware, including the quad core processor at 1.6GHz, the 2GB of RAM and a GPU that is very powerful.

These hardware figures are just numbers that we keep in mind when using the device, to remind us just how "powerful" the device really is. But what does all of this hardware look like under the hood?

One YouTube user decided to find out and took their Samsung Galaxy Note 2 apart & show everyone a side to the device that we never seen, the inside! If you ever wondered just what was inside the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 you may wish to check out the video below.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2: Android 4.2.2 Update Yours Now PACMan Style! - SidhTech

News that many Galaxy Note 2 users will have been waiting to hear has now arrived – upgrades to Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 is now available! It must be mentioned, however, that the update isn't 'official' and must be downloaded by using a ROM – this one being PACMAN ROM.

There are slight issues with downloading through a custom ROM though, with the main one being that your handset won't be under warranty if any serious issues occur. Developers don't take any blame if problems happen, so please ensure that you follow the following step-by-step guide very carefully. If you do, your handset will be sitting on Jelly Bean 4.2.2 afterwards.

Here is our step-by-step guide:

Make sure that you have the right version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, from T-Mobile, AT&T or Verizon. You will also have to check that the device has been rooted.

The battery needs to be 70% at least and this is to make sure that it doesn't run out when flashing the ROM. If it does it could damage the handset.

You should also back up your handset, which will allow you to restore the data.

You may wish to disable security programs and apps on your device and computer.

Go to Settings > Application Development and check to ensure that you have USB Debugging enabled on your device.

You will also need ClockworkMod or a similar recovery app installed.

The ROM you want to flash and follow the instructions for flashing carefully.

By following the instructions below you will have Jelly Bean 4.2 installed on your device.

1. Install the Samsung USB drivers on your computer.

2. Connect your Galaxy Note 2 to the computer then copy the appropriate custom ROM and the Google Apps package on the SD card of your device.

3. Switch off the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and reboot it into Recovery mode. To do this, press and hold the Volume up + Volume down + Power keys after the device turned off.

4. Create a nAndroid backup for your current ROM which you can restore later if something goes wrong. Select "backup and restore > backup." You can select "restore" if you decided to revert back to your current ROM.

5. In the main menu, select "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition." After that, go back and select "advanced > wipe Dalvik cache."

6. Go back to the main menu and select "install zip from SD card > choose zip from SD card." Choose the custom ROM zip file you have copied on your Galaxy Note and confirm installation. Do the same with the Google Apps package.

7. Once the installation is complete, go back to the main menu and select "reboot system now."

8. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will reboot and may take up to 5 minutes to complete the first run of the latest ROM.

You should now be able to enjoy everything that Jelly Bean 4.2.2 offers and the benefits of customisation from Paranoid Android, CyanogenMod and AOKP.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 vs Note 8, Tablet Shopping: Both Android, Same ... - International Business Times AU

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 or Galaxy Note 8? These Android devices from the Korean tech giant are usually among the choices of current small tablet shoppers. Aside from the big difference in price tags, what other factors should you consider if choosing between the two tabs?

In Australian mobile store Mobicity, the basic Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 costs $ 239.95. This 7-inch tablet first shipped in April last year with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Updates have since been made and users have been able to upgrade to 4.1 Jelly Bean.

The Samsung Tab 2 was immediately favoured over Kindle Fire or the Nook Tablet. It has 1GB of RAM on board powered by the dual-core Cortex A9 processor. It sports a 1024×600 resolution and comes in 8/16/32GB storage variants. Connectivity choices include: WiFi only, WiFi with an IR Blaster, and 3G & WiFi.

The screen responds well to the user’s touch, and browsing/navigation is smooth. Galaxy Tab 2 allows microSD storage expansion of up to 32GB. This is one of the reasons shoppers choose it over the Google Nexus 7, another relatively cheap small Android tablet.

The Galaxy Note 8 32GB WiFi only variant costs $ 389.95 on Mobicity. The device is also available in 3G and 4G LTE variants. One of its prized features is the accompanying Samsung S Pen, which is popularized by the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 phablet. Its storage is expandable to up to 64GB (microSD). It has a 5MP rear camera, and it is powered by a quad-core 1.6GHz processor, Cortex-A9. Its battery power (Li-Ion 4600 mAh) is only slightly better than the Tab 2′s Li-ion 4,000 mAh.

The Galaxy Note 8 has better specs in general, but its screen display is just as good as the Tab 2. There’s no revolutionary experience in this area. For additional $ 150, those who’d choose the Note 8 over Tab 2 will get a better processor, some extra battery juice, bigger allowable storage expansion, and the S-Pen.

If you need a small tablet mostly for browsing and ebook reading, it is indeed more practical go go with the Tab 2. If you like faster processing of multi tasks, you might want to give the Note 8 a chance. Further, those looking forward to Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie are far more likely to run it on a Note 8 than a Tab 2.
