What about Helio Adventure Park? – Drammens Times

Opinions
area on spiral is large and it becomes widely used. Lately, there have been newspaper articles advocating the closure of open-air museum and other posts for continued operation / preservation.

“Grant Museum 50 million for improvements and buildings will shine”; says Harald Gautneb to DT. That means well that the museum can not afford. Councillor estimates supposedly a price tag of approximately 100 million for the road tunnel also will be good. Beyond that, neither May 17 cannon used more, there is still no ski preparation or selling of wax on Helio, the road is notoriously bumpy, lights are shrinking and icicles growing inside the tunnel during winter.

On top of it all, there is no city council who care much about decay.

Economic foundation

Will there be any change must Helio become a place where experience and economics are intertwined. I have looked someone familiar experience places in the cards to get a perspective on it all. Among other things, I wondered how it is possible to build a water park with two month season in the middle of the woods in Telemark and get it to pay off. But in 2014 had thus Sommarland in Bø a turnover of 45 million. And a profit of 3 million with its 15 employees. Tusenfryd Vinterbro had 177 million in sales and 3.8 million in profit and Hunderfossen had 60 million in sales and over 9 million in profit. Finally, I mention Kristiansand Zoo which had a turnover of 293 million and a profit of 22 million in 2014. It turns out therefore that it is possible to create experience venues that both provides jobs and who serve the existing community. And as far as I know, all the places I looked at an acceptable quality in terms of both. Content, cleaning and accessibility.

What can we get to the IUD?

Havard Homes Moens fresh input 2. November made me look old papers. In 1999 it made a note / sketch input on Helio who experience park with foundation in our lumber history and Asbjørnsens and Moe. An adventure park based on play and learning. Curiosity, knowledge, history and development meet. Outdoor activity on the rooftops and yet close proximity to the rest of the town’s amenities. Not secluded far outside the city, but integrated into the city’s pulse, some as Copenhagen’s Tivoli. A year-round cultural and entertainment arena you will come back to again and again. At Spiral, we can in future meet Ashlad and timber shipper side by side. It’s flora and fauna, river and adventure. What has not the forest, timber and our river meant to us over the centuries? I think even the lumber industry is our own. That it actually comes from here. Even though it meant international trade and inspiration back from other countries and cultures.

access to the countryside for all

If there is to be a commercial player on Helio is it also important to safeguard our right to use the woods as it is today. I’m sure we still want to ski on the trails without paying admission to the theme park.

The same applies to the possibility to enjoy the city views or pick blueberries along the path to Klopptjern. But Spiral area is large and it will not be very difficult to accommodate both. Both free access to nature and / or go on a visit to the theme park.

If Helio could develop there must be opportunities for good income to the landowner (Drammen municipality) and simultaneously the possibility for a professional player to build an amusement park which will put Helio on the map. Today we have neither, only expenses and dilapidated facilities.

Development can not be based on bursts and volunteering

The discussion about Spiral area can not be a discussion about the preservation of log cabins from valleys work involving and investment in clubs and associations as soon not members anymore. I myself have some experience with events on Helio (Gold castle that hung in the air in 2000 and Østenfor Sol in 2001), but it requires endless work and no real opportunity to get paid for the effort.

Therefore, it is conceivable permanent and long-term vision of development. And so it must be legitimate to make it pay off. Then the tunnel also be enabled, there will be new and clean toilets, there are outlets of wax, it is certainly a fun toboggan run and maybe even a cable car from the town and up.
