Samsung's Galaxy Note 3 “Lite” Will Feature a Hexa-Core Processor - Droid Life

Samsung may be a company shaped by hyperbole and ostentation, but that doesn't mean it isn't cost-conscious. The Exynos 5 Octa is an expensive chip to manufacture, and power-hungry enough to rule out use in mid-range devices.  For that reason, the company used quad-core processors in less expensive smartphones as a stop gap measure, but has now developed an in-house silicon solution that will debut with the the upcoming Galaxy Note 3 "Lite": GSM Arena reports that a hexa-core ARM processor powers the inexpensive phablet.

According to leaked documents, the new CPU contains two 1.7GHz core and four 1.3GHz cores, which suggests at derivative implementation of ARM's big.LITTLE architecture; the more powerful cores will handle processor-intensive tasks, while the smaller cores will handle programs that aren't quite so demanding. That, in combination with the relatively low-resolution 5.5-inch 720p Super AMOLED display, should provide significant power savings for the Galaxy Note 3 Lite, which will be positioned as a low-cost alternative to the Note 3.

Other Note 3 Lite specifications include 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, an 8MP camera, a 3,100 mAh battery, and a microSD card slot. There's still no word on when Samsung intends to launch the handset, but you can bet we'll hear something about it at MWC this February.

What to do when your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 cannot sync your online accounts - The Droid Guy

A Galaxy Note 2 owner relays an issue via TheDroidGuy Mailbag, regarding her device that is unable to sync with her online accounts like Google, Email, ActiveSync or Facebook. She is able to access the Internet, though.

In respond to this concern, we are providing a few workarounds and some tips to help our sender obtain the best possible resolution for her issue.

HINT: Syncing problem on Samsung Galaxy Note 2 usually occurs when:

• Sync feature is disabled on the device
• Sync option is unchecked in the account
• A network outage is affecting mobile data services in the area
• Airplane mode is set to active
• Intermittent connectivity or inconsistent network connection
• Carrier switch
• Outdated device software in use

Before you start troubleshooting the problem, be sure to verify your account status with your service provider. Generally, service providers will place delinquent or past due accounts to a pending disconnect status, which will in turn result to disruptions to network services of the customer. Also check to ensure you have the correct data plan.

BASIC WORKAROUNDS

1. Check if the signal you are getting is adequate or at least 2 or 3 bars of signal strength.
2. Verify with your service provider is your account is provisioned correctly, especially if you have never been able to connect to mobile data since you got your device.
3. Check your device for possible liquid or physical damages. Either damages would require physical repair to restore device.
4. In case you are using a SIM card on your device, verify if it is not damaged and is installed correctly. Also verify if you are using the SIM card provided by your service provider.
5. In case you haven't updated your device software, please check for any available software updates for your device and go for an upgrade.

STANDARD PROCEDURE

1. Re-establish a connection with the mobile network by removing the battery for 30 seconds with the device still ON. Wait for a moment and replace the battery.
2. Turn the device on and wait for a few more seconds for it to connect to the network.
3. Check the Airplane mode on your device and make sure it is NOT active. To check the Airplane mode, just press and hold the power button simultaneously for 1 to 2 seconds. A prompt that says "Airplane mode is OFF" indicates that the feature is not active. If you are not seeing this prompt, simply touch Airplane mode to disable the feature.
4. Try connecting to the Internet by starting any available browsers on your device. To do so, go to Apps, then select Internet.
5. Navigate to any website to see if you can now connect.

IMPORTANT TIPS:

Make sure you are trying to sync over Mobile data. If you are trying to sync using Wi-Fi, then you have to troubleshoot the wireless connection first to ensure wireless connectivity.

If problem persists, then verify Sync settings. These are the steps on how to check the sync settings on Galaxy Note 2. Remember that when the sync option is unchecked or disabled, your accounts will definitely not sync updates. So, be sure to enable the Sync option in the Notification Panel.

1. Swipe your finger from the top of the screen to the bottom, to open the Notification Panel.
2. Swipe your finger to the right on the shortcuts until the Sync option shows up.
3. Touch the Sync icon. You will know if it is enabled when the icon will appear green.

In case the Sync option is not available in the Notification Panel, try this method instead to get to Sync configuration.

1. Touch the Menu icon.
2. Touch to select Settings from the sub-menu.
3. Touch to select Connections.
4. Touch to select Data Usage.
5. Select Menu.
6. Touch Auto Sync data to get to Sync option configuration.

Sometimes, it is also important to check the individual accounts to ensure synchronization is on. To turn sync on for any of your accounts, follow these steps:

1. From the home screen, touch the Menu icon.
2. Touch to go to Settings.
3. Touch to select Accounts.
4. Choose the account(s) that is having the issue.
5. Put a check mark next to the items you would like to sync.

If all these won't resolve sync problems with your device, then you may need to re-add the accounts with problem. To do so, completely remove the affected account(s) and add it back again. Follow these steps to removing and re-adding of accounts.

1. Touch the Menu icon from the home screen.
2. Touch to go to Settings.
3. Touch to select Accounts.
4. Select (Account Name) to select the account you want to remove and re-add.
5. Touch Remove Account.
6. Confirm the action to delete the selected account by touching Remove Account.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you remove the account, any data added since the last successful sync will be lost. So, you may consider backing them up if necessary.

Steps in Re-adding account(s):

1. Touch Menu from the home screen.
2. Touch to go to Settings.
3. Touch to select Accounts.
4. Touch to select Add Account.
5. Select (Account Type) to proceed.
6. To complete the account set up, just follow the on-screen prompts.

If all else fail to get the problem solved, then you may now resort to factory data reset or resetting the device to factory defaults. In most cases, many issues occurring on the device will be resolved with a Factory Data Reset. However, doing this would also mean losing your personal information stored in your device.

If you are decided to use Factory Data Reset to solve sync problems with your device, please make a backup file of all important information and save them to your computer ahead.

Galaxy Note 3 Neo aka Lite could be revamped Note 2 - Phones Review

A few months ago Samsung treated the smartphone market to its latest and greatest phablet device, but recently we have been hearing rumours of a Lite version but it is now being reported that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo could be a cheaper revamped version of the Galaxy Note 2.

For a while now there has been talk that Samsung was working on a Galaxy Note 3 Lite that would offer consumers a cheaper alternative to its flagship smartphone. Now this Lite version of the Note 3 is supposedly going to be called the Galaxy Note 3 Neo.

The guys over at GSMArena have managed to get their hands on a number of leaked internal documents that is giving details about the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo. It seems that the device is more of a revamped Galaxy Note 2 instead of a scaled down Note 3 as it features a 5.55-inch Super AMOLED display at a 720p HD resolution.

Other specifications include an 8-megapixel main camera, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of on board storage, and a 3100 mAh battery. Things start to get a little different when you look at the details of the chip powering the device which is listed as a 1.7GHz dual + 1.3GHz quad core processor, which means we are looking at Hexa core processor.

This will be a major step up from the 1.6GHz quad core unit powering the Galaxy Note 2, and it is wondered if the processor could use the new HMP solution that allows all the processors cores to work at the same time.

The handset will also feature the faux leather back that the Galaxy Note 3 has and the device is also slimmer than the Note 2, and software wise it has the same features as the S4 and Note 3 such as Advanced Multi Window among others.

There is no information regarding a release date for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo, but there is a good chance that it could be seen around the same time as the Galaxy S5 is tipped to arrive next month.

Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Update Still Facing Setbacks - International Business Times AU

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update release still faces setbacks even after weeks it first began rolling out to the American carriers. In October 2013, Samsung announced its plan to roll out Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates to the Samsung Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 2.

It was expected that the company began with the Galaxy S4 before moving to the Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy S3. By December 2013, U.S carriers had finished all Android 4.3 updates and their features to three of these devices. However, while everything is now settled in the U.S., there are updates that still face setbacks in some parts of the world.

Australian carrier Telstra has been the only carrier in the world that is very communicative with its customers. Telstra, which finally rolled out the Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update earlier this week, still has to roll out the Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update. Like French carrier SFR, Telstra has been dealing with Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update issues.

The Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update was supposed to arrive in November 2013 but Samsung’s update submission was delayed for some unknown reasons. Telstra said it’s targeting Dec. 23, 2013 and after complaints from its customers, particularly those with Galaxy Gear, Telstra finally announced its new update schedule and unfortunately, it’s not good news.

Telstra didn’t give a specific date and instead tagged a “To Be Confirmed” (TBC) label to its Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update release date. It’s basically up in the air right now. This is a setback that Telstra customers probably did not envision when their carrier announced Dec. 23 target release.

Although customers welcome it, this is one of the dangers of giving specific release dates beforehand. Customer expectations are set and if expectations are not met, it leads to disappointment. That’s exactly what we see from Telstra customers.

Telstra is not alone. Several carriers have yet to roll out Android 4.3, including SFR, which announced that it developed problems during testing.

Samsung Galaxy S3, S4, Galaxy Note 2, and Note 3 to get Android 4.4 KitKat ... - Associated News

According to reports this week, very soon the Samsung Galaxy S4, S3, Galaxy Note 2 and Note 3 users could be receiving the Android 4.4 KitKat update.

Many manufacturers like HTC, Sony and even LG had announced update dates for the Android 4.4 KitKat last year but sadly for Samsung users there was no announcement of any update by Samsung and the company left its users in the dark.

This left millions of Galaxy S4, S3 and Note 3 and 2 users highly frustrated due to lack of any news from Samsung.

Google had revealed details about the latest Android OS, KitKat, back in September 2013, however, not much of the details about the OS were revealed. But then in October a lot of details were released and this got all the Android users excited.

At the same time HTC, Motorola and Sony released information for their users about when the update will be made available for their devices.

However, there was no word from Samsung. But it seems that now the update could be just at the corner.

The roll out of the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean has been completed for the S3 and Note 2 users and this was a very important update as it provided compatibility with the Galaxy Gear smart watch and the Samsung KNOX.

Although Samsung has not given any official word about the KitKat update but it is reasonably clear that it will be coming soon.

It was confirmed by SFR, a French mobile carrier, that the release would be coming soon but there was no specific date mentioned.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Huawei Ascend Mate 2 4G respective features: 16/32/64 GB storage vs 16 GB only on the Mate 2 4G, 3GB vs 2GB RAM, both have MicroSD card slots for up to 64GB cards. The Note 3 has a Li-Ion 3200 mAh battery whereas the new 6.1-inch smartphone has a larger not-removable 4050 mAh battery.

Camera: Both have a 13MP rear camera featuring 4128 x 3096 pixels, LED flash and autofocus, the Galaxy note 3 only has a 2MP front-facing camera and the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 4G has a 5MP and both run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS.

There have long been rumors that Samsung will launch an 12.2-inch version of the Samsung Galaxy Note, under the name Galaxy Pro.

Now it is clear that the tablet will be launched at electronics show CES in Las Vegas this week, where Amobil.no present. Not only has Samsung huge banners at the show with commercials for Note Pro and another tablet, Tab Pro – now also has to be official press photos and specs leaked. It writes GSMArena.com.

Samsung Galaxy Pro will come in both a 8,4 -, a 10.1 – and 12.2-inch version, while Note Pro seems to get just a 12.2-inch version. Twitter user @ evleaks has posted pictures of what will be the new portable tablets.

Excellent Battery

According to @ evleaks, all four tablets using a screen resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels (WQXGA) and be equipped with an 8 megapixel main camera and a 2 megapixel front camera. The screen resolution is therefore the same as the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition. LTE versions (4G) portable tablets will use Snapdragon 800 system chip, while wi-fi/3G-versjonen will use an Exynos 5 Octo-chip (it’s probably the former coming to Norway).
