Samsung Galaxy S3 & Note 2 Android 4.2.2 Update 4 Months Off? - SidhTech

It appears that the update to Jelly Bean 4.2.2 could have been delayed for some time for the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note 2. IB Times said that the update may not arrive until November or December. It seems that the update depends on the sales of the Samsung Galaxy S4, but SamMobile has said that it could be delayed thanks to issues with the TouchWiz software. The 1GB of RAM could also be an issue.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean 4.2.2 update was recently leaked online and the software came with new effects, lock screen, transitions and some apps that are exclusive to the Samsung Galaxy S4. The camera app was the only thing that did not come in the update, other than this everything works.

The sales figures could therefore be the issue.

When the Samsung Galaxy S4 first came out it sold well, but now the sales figures don't match those of the Samsung Galaxy S3 at the same time last year.

Samsung may be holding onto the update so that the Samsung Galaxy S4 keeps the apps exclusive, so as to push sales. This could be why they are not releasing it for the Samsung Galaxy S3.

Samsung may want to wait and give the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.3 or Key Lime Pie, which may be out in October. Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note 2 could then get the update to 4.2.2. people would then be able to choose either the Samsung Galaxy S3 with apps from the Samsung Galaxy S4 with Jelly Bean 4.2.2 or they could go for the Samsung Galaxy S4 with Key Lime Pie.

Samsung Galaxy S3, Note 2 Android 4.2.2 or 4.3 official update - In Entertainment

Rumours suggest Samsung is already commencing work on the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update with the intention of bringing this to their new devices with talk about the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 jumping directly to the next update, thus avoiding the Android 4.2.2.

This may be just speculation at the moment, as sources close to Samsung India are giving us the impression that the two updates will be experienced on both of these products.

Previous leaks about Android 4.2.2 on the Galaxy S3 have also mentioned an Android 4.3 build for the Galaxy S4 Google Play edition, and Android Authority highlight how certain new devices could skip the latest update to run the latest Android OS available.

Other reports discuss the possibility of an Android 4.2.2 for the Galaxy Note 2 and S3 arriving in November, as opposed to the expected July date, and if this is the case we can see a reason for the devices to miss out on the 4.2.2 altogether.

In addition, there have been suggestions that the Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy Note 3 will all be further upgradeable when it comes to the next major Android update, although they will not all be receiving this at the same time. LG ALIGNS PREMIUM SMARTPHONE BEHIND NEW "G" NAME

SEOUL, July 19, 2013 — The next flagship device from LG Electronics (LG) will be officially known as G2 and will be the first smartphone from LG to be launched as part of the company's new "G" premium brand. Future smartphones in the same series will carry only the G name while the branding of mobile devices that have already been introduced will continue unchanged.

"Our vision is to make LG's newest G devices synonymous with excellence, raising the bar even further for the ultimate in user experience," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. "The new G2 will build upon the excellent reputation established by previous G Series products."

Furthermore, LG's premium 4:3 display smartphones will be rebranded as simply "Vu:" going forward. All of LG's smartphones feature next generation core technologies and familiar UX with each series highlighting a different facet of the company's product expertise.

More and more rumors are emerging and people seem to think that the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OTA Update won't be released for the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3, which means that the next upgrade will be directly to Android 4.3. All these news might eventually turn to be true, as Samsung has already pushed the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update to November and, we might see the release of a new OS until then.

Google is still working on the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean release date and this shouldn't take long before it will be available for devices worldwide. However, even if Google releases the new official Jelly Bean 4.3 update next week, Samsung will still take their time before upgrading the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 devices. If by any chance you happen to own a Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0, you should be happy to hear that the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for the Wi-Fi model of the tablet has been leaked, and you are free to get it. Even though the phone make hasn't officially released the firmware upgrade yet, online publication Sam Mobile claims that the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy Note 8.0 is "completely official", adding that after the software is installed the battery life of the tablet will be improved, and the OS itself will run smoother.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 was announced by the company at MWC 2013 and it has been available for purchase for quite a while. The tablet may be seen as a rival of the iPad Mini, but it's a lot better in terms of specs than Apple's product, hence its price. The Galaxy Note 8.0 is a little more expensive than the other tablets in its class, such as the Galaxy Tab line, which is more budget friendly. The device currently runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.

If you're the owner of either a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 or a Samsung Galaxy S3, you might be in for a bit of a long wait for an update, with a leak suggesting that Samsung doesn't plan to roll out a software upgrade for either device until at least November…or maybe even not until December.

It's not all bad news though, as the reason for this decision is apparently so that Samsung can take advantage of the newest version of Android when it's released, Jelly Bean 4.3. According to the source, Samsung plans to avoid the incremental 4.2.2 update to Android altogether and wait until the next big release, giving users all of the new tweaks and features, ostensibly to tide them over until the Key Lime Pie is ready.

Sources also claim that Samsung will definitely be giving the alleged Android 5.0 update to the Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 2 and the as-yet unannounced Galaxy Note 3, although this may be jumping the gun somewhat, seeing as Google hasn't actually officially acknowledged a 5.0 update at all yet.

Assumptions are being made about the next releases from Android, with most guessing that the next release will be 4.3, the last version of Jelly Bean, followed by a 5.0, which is assumed to be Key Lime Pie. Tipsters are also assuming that Key Lime Pie, or 5.0, will be released with the next Nexus handset from Google, which has been tentatively given the moniker the Nexus 5.

We're not sure that Samsung customers will see the companies' decision as a good one, as it means that their premium device could be running an operation system that's two iterations behind by the times they eventually get their update. As 4.2.2 was intended to fix various bugs, this could mean that customers’ devices will become increasingly problematic in the meantime. Having said that, come December they could be rocking the fastest, most stable devices on the block…which is nice.

Other unique features of the handset include Multi-windows, which allows the device to run two apps in windows independently on split screens. Along with its unique features the device comes packed with serious hardware, including the quad core processor at 1.6GHz, the 2GB of RAM and a GPU that is very powerful.

These hardware figures are just numbers that we keep in mind when using the device, to remind us just how "powerful" the device really is. But what does all of this hardware look like under the hood?
