Minister and other political summits ran the same tactics: Disclaimer everything … – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): • Read all about it!

– It strikes me that everyone says’ this I have not heard of. “

closed rapporteur of the Parliamentary Scrutiny and Constitutional Committee, Helge Thorheim, the consultation process with the former ministers Jonas Gahr Støre, Minister Espen Barth Eide and Anne-Grethe Strøm-Erichsen.

– I was not informed of the sale until after the fact. I knew the boats would be sold, and it was an explicit condition that it should be sold for the best possible price, but within laws and regulations. I got a note that the sale was conducted within laws and regulations, and that it would be sailed under the British flag. I can not see that there was something in this note that would cause a warning light should go.

It is the essence of Espen Barth Eide defense speech.

Espen Barth Eide was defense minister from 11 November 2011 to 21 September 2012. In addition, he was Secretary of State from 21 September 2012 to 16 November 2013 and also worked as secretary of state under Anne-Grethe Strøm-Erichsen.

Does not even criticism

Thursday’s hearing happens because of Dagbladet’s revelations about the sale of naval vessels to paramilitary actors in West Africa.

• Follow our live broadcast here.

Jonas Gahr Støre followed the same track as Barth Eide:

– UD had no responsibility for the disposal process. Ministry of Foreign Affairs has dealt with the regulations in each case, said Støre, who sat as foreign minister from 2005 until 2012.

– There was contact between UD, FLO and customs authorities but not so that it sparked discussion about grove wrongdoing or corruption, continued Minister.

Minister was also confronted with his Dagbladet has previously placed the blame on the British government.

– I said that on Based on the information I had at the time, said Minister.

No FAQ

One of the featured boats – KNM Horten – was in July 2011 sold to the US private security company Osprey Global Solutions, headed by retired Special Forces General David L. Grange.

They should use the boat in the civil war in Libya. The trade was not something of which payments from the Americans failed to materialize. There was a festive atmosphere in the Ministry of Defence in May / June 2012 when 27 million kroner from the sale of six MTBs entered the account.

Email exchange and documentation showing that the management of FLO, Armed Forces and Ministry of Defence must have understood that the paramilitaries in West Africa and that the Nigerian government was the real buyers.

Still, no one questioned who had bought the boats and what they should actually be used.

Instead placed Støre, Barth Eide and Strøm-Erichsen responsibility downwards in the Armed Forces and their logistics organization so also the former defense chiefs Harald Sunde and Sverre Diesen did earlier today.

– Revealed in retrospect

Sunde says the errors and defects that have been discovered have surfaced in retrospect. He knew nothing.

– These are conditions that are revealed later in a part of the Defence Logistics Organisation, said Sunde.

In October 2012, the Foreign Ministry helping to facilitate visits from Nigeria to inspect MTBs and KNM Horten in Bergen.

In May 2013, the Norwegian embassy in Nigeria involved in obtaining visas to two bankers from Skye Bank PLC in Nigeria that would come to Norway with money for KNM Horten, without UD connected this to the boats might not be going to England anyway.

The closest the former ministers came self-criticism, the following statement from Anne-Grethe Power Erichsen:

– Anyone who sits as a minister at any time overseeing. This is a regrettable and serious issue, said former Defense Minister Strøm-Erichsen.

At the same time made it clear to her that disposals of defense was a delegated authority added defense chief, and that she therefore was not included with this:

– We had confidence that this happened in a correct and proper manner, she said.

Former Defence and Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide substantiated this:

– These specific cases were not challenged in my time, said Barth Eide.

Now he is charged with corruption, but when he sold boats to Nigeria, he was … – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): A highly trusted officer of Defence Logistics Organisation (FLO) is charged to the IRS for gross corruption after allegedly accepting over 150 $ 000 private from the Nigerian buyers of support KNM Horten and six missile torpedo boats – called MTBs. The man has had primary responsibility for selling old boats and other discarded material that the defense wants to get rid of. He denies having done anything illegal.

Not later than yesterday went Defence Ine Eriksen Søreide out and pointed to the incredible server when NTB asked for an explanation of how ten Norwegian decommissioned naval vessels have been able to port with insurgents and para military groups in Africa. E-mail correspondence Dagbladet has disclosed shows that man no means operated in a vacuum, and that the upper echelons of the ministry was great enthusiasm for sales of MTBs.

“You have to congratulate the two tireless gentlemen so much. Such people need defense “, wrote Director General Fridthjof Søgaard in an email to a subordinate major in the Ministry, which was responsible for following up sales. The two recipients of the congratulations it is now accused man and his immediate superior.

In email exchanges discussing how Defence Minister Espen Barth Eide will be informed about the joyful news. They agree to send Eide called a orenteringsnotat about the case, and that Søgaard would try to take it up orally with Eide already the next day.

They also discussed the extent to which they can start the celebration.

“It får’n say, Maybe we should not celebrate or flag in the media, before all the money has come in?” , wrote Søgaard with a smiley.

For here there was talk that the military gained revenue from the sale of old boats that they really had depreciated value of.

“Believe it or not, yesterday came into 22,200,000 money account from CAS Global, as the first payment for Hauk class MTBs. The remaining 5 million are expected shortly. That means that FLO has managed to land this sale, which I had no great faith in “, writes Major.

Warlord

General Fridthjof Søgaard is one of veterans in the Ministry of Defence and had at this time responsibility for Defence Economics. Sources in the defense refer to him as the agency’s own “finance minister”.

– With the knowledge we in 2012 had about the case and about the case officers in FLO, I stand still fully inside for what I wrote, said Søgaard comments.

Dagbladet numerous articles revealed how warlord Government “Tompolo” Ekpemupolo has received buy six former Norwegian missile torpedo boats and the great support KNM ‘Horten “which now is part of a privately run paramilitary patrol fleet.
The six MTBs were sold for around 28 million, while support KNM Horten was sold for 46.4 million dollars. All sales went through the British shell company CAS Global.

The Norwegian oil veteran Olaf Ljøsne, who was chief executive of Shell in Nigeria for five years, has previously said to Dagbladet what he thinks Tompolo shall marine vessels.

– The Norwegian boats gives him the power to control the entire Nigerian oil exports. He is now the sovereign strongest power factor in the Niger Delta and anytime closing or throttling the country’s oil revenues, says Ljøsne.

He says that Tompolo demonstrete this in July last year, when he blocked the country’s gas exports, and the operator had pay approximately 1 billion (140 million USD) to get shipping started.
Tompolo was former leader of MEND guerrillas who have also hijacked oil rigs and taken Norwegian sailors hostage.

Visit from Nigeria

Also before the last trade Tompolo was a fact was the Defense Ministry involved in the sales process. A delegation from Nigeria wanted to come and look at KNM Horten and it was much back and forth on how this visit with inspection Håkonsvern in Bergen, could be carried out.

Hello, we have discussed the Nigerian visit today. Bottom line here is that we can not give any pre-commitment regarding license. As you know, this is a catch-all assessment …. (…) Under this assumption, we consider it okay that Nigerians inspects vessels (s) when it suits for FLO , “writes a senior adviser UD in an email which also went to Gunnar Heløe the Defense Ministry.
Heløe was then deputy chief of the department for international defense cooperation. With the “catch all” refers counselor provisions on export licenses for the sale of any goods to areas of war or where war threatens.

Civil War

Before Nigerians were allowed to buy KNM Horten was signed a sales contract with the US security company Osprey Global Solutions. The American ex-general David L. Grange planned to use the ship during the civil war which then ravaged Libya. Defense would be happy to sell and the contract was signed, but Grange never managed to cough up the 46 million crowns were agreed for the boat.

Documents show that both defense chief Harald Sunde and the top political leadership of the Defense Ministry was informed about the sale. Shipbroker, Lager Yacht Brokerage, even wrote directly to then Defence Minister Espen Barth Eide and requested more time to get financing in place. They had already received three postponements deadline to pay an advance of 4.6 million.

Telling orientation

The broker explains that the general Grange is in Libya and that he together with partners in the Transitional Council is still determined to buy KNM ‘Horten “. Transition Council shall according to the broker should have modified its contract with the US security company, where the Norwegian ship now be equipped as a hospital ship to use for humanitarian support and “acute medical operations.” At this point, the defense lost patience, and canceled the contract with the Americans.

“LYB (broker) did not pay within the deadline, but has requested postponement three times, respectively, from August 26 to September 16, from 18 September to 14 October and from 15 October to 22. November. LYB announced on November 23 that the current contract was not possible to observe this time. Armed Forces announced therefore LYB that they were no longer bound by contract “, wrote ultimately Defense Ministry on 23 March 2012 in a secret briefing write to Secretary of State Roger Ingebrigtsen, with a copy to Chief of Defence Harald Sunde.

In briefing writes Defense Department that they have considered the case as an materiellforvaltningssak “without any kind of security policy matters related to it.” Thursday is three defense ministers, three foreign ministers and two defense chiefs among those who must explain himself to Standing Committee on Scrutiny and Constitutional Affairs. Espen Barth Eide, who was defense minister when MTBs were sold, would not comment on the matter before the hearing.

Most people who have survived the journey across the Mediterranean will be sent back – TV 2

LATEST: The German news agency DPA reports that EU countries doubles monetary efforts to work for boat people. Previously it was known that the Mediterranean countries would ask about this, but that it would probably be denied.

Reuters sources in Brussels said that EU leaders should have agreed a dozen proposals for dealing with refugee disaster in the Mediterranean. But only the first point, which concerns “strengthening presence at sea,” is likely to be implemented anytime soon.

Last year, 150,000 boat people over Mediterranean to Italy. If nothing is done, 200,000 people have arrived Italy from North Africa within the year is, according to Italian authorities.

But boat people will not necessarily experience the dream about a future in Europe. Most of them will, according to The Guardian, be sent back through a new rapid repatriation program coordinated by the EU border authorities, Frontex.

In the leaks also shows that despite pressure for a major expansion of a search and rescue operation in the Mediterranean will EU leaders probably go against it.

Instead, EU leaders are likely to be agreed to carry out a systematic effort to identify, gain control and destroy ships before they are used by traffickers.

– A fight against slavery

European leaders have received heavy criticism for missing handling of the growing refugee crisis. Over 1,700 people have died in their attempts to cross the Mediterranean on their way to Europe so far this year, Amnesty International estimates.

– The fight against human trafficking means a struggle against slavery. It is not just a question of safety, but about human dignity, said Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi before the summit.

A military operation is one of the measures EU stat and government should consider to combat human trafficking from Libya. If this be the outcome, it will be the first time the Union adopts such a decision, according to news agency AFP.

EU president Donald Tusk says that one should not have any illusion that EU leaders can solve all the problems related to immigration and refugees dangerous journeys to Europe.

– We can not. The real causes of war, instability and poverty throughout the region. It is obviously not Europe that has caused the situation in the Mediterranean, said Tusk when he arrived EU summit in Brussels on Thursday.

– But we must all make an effort to deal with the worst consequences. And I am convinced that today we can agree on a joint and concrete action, he continued. (2 TV / NTB)

Rescues boat people – send them back – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): EU leaders meet today in Brussels has already given clear signals about increased resources for the Mediterranean will not become a mass grave for the escalating flow of boat people.

But it does not mean that everyone who comes alive over ocean with sea rescue service or smuggler-craft the allowed to stay in Europe.

In a secret draft today’s summit of EU Commission it is proposed a sharp tightening to stay in Europe.

Only the 5000 boat people with the greatest beskytteslesbehov shall stay and rest are sent back to their homeland, in accordance with the British newspaper The Guardian, which has seen the note EU bosses get on the table today.

36 000 have come

Only YTD the 36,000 boat people arrived to Italy, Malta and Greece.

Last year nearly 240,000 boat people over the ocean, most from ports in North Africa.

In front of this season, which has started tragically with about 2000 drowning people, it was last autumn estimated that 750,000 refugees will try to get to Europe across the Mediterranean.

After the crisis in Yemen has evolved, the UN refugee organization updated this figure to one million people,.

Destroy escape boats

According proposal to the current EU summit is the EU border agency Frontex will get more money – in addition to Tunisia, Egypt, Sudan, Mali and Niger for these countries to stop mass exodus of their borders.

Italian Prime Minister has already received support from several EU leaders for his initiatives at the weekend to go to so-called interventions in Libyan ports to stop or destroy the escape boats there.

Proposes increased firepower at the Russian border – NRK

– Russia’s conduct in Ukraine and the annexation of Crimea has demonstrated the challenges of being a small neighboring to a superpower with global ambitions. Then it is also appropriate to downsize Armed Forces in the north, says Jacob Børresen, formerly CEO of the Navy.

Former CEO of the Navy, Jacob Børresen.

He wants a permanent standing army in Kirkenes and Porsanger in Finnmark.

Internal memos and classified documents that NRK has gained access to show that a number of bases and military camps could be closed down while the defense wants to build up other departments – like the Army in Finnmark.

Equipment border

In the internal memo discloses that limit soldiers in the future will be strengthened:

This is time, believes Børresen.

KRIM: Soldiers with Russian flag on the Crimean peninsula. Børresen believes one can see similar situation in Finnmark.

He says it has encountered a military vacuum in Finnmark without ground forces, and believes it will be easy for Russia to annex East Finnmark in the event of an armed conflict between NATO and Russia.

– If Russia wants to split NATO countries, so today they can just stroll with his hands and his gun on his back into Kirkenes and declare: “Here we Oslo, what do you do with it?” says he said.

He suggests that the military moves part of 2nd Battalion or Panserbataljonen from Troms to Kirkenes.

– Would not it provokes Russians?

– It will be considered as an aggressive measures. In isolation it will be in conflict with Norwegian “lavspenningspolitikk” but this illustrates how the reduction of ground forces from Finnmark over time have reduced our freedom, justifying him.

Added in October

No one at Garrison of Sør-Varanger will comment on the matter to NRK.

Spokesperson Aleksander Jankov at hærstaben says professional military advised the Chief of Defence is presented on October 1. But document NRK sits on shows that the Army is headed back to Finnmark.

Hærstaben will not go with that Russian forces may take into Kirkenes unopposed so Børresen claim. There are several hundred soldiers in Sør-Varanger, but Jankov admits that these can only provide self-defense in a crisis.

– We have a permanent standing army there – Garrison of Sør-Varanger. They are an army which shall exercise the border, said Jankov.

– However, border guards capacity to resist a military threat?

– It depends on. Border guards today has the capacity to exercise self-defense, he said.

Jankov is not afraid that the Army buildup in Finnmark could affect relations with Russia.

– The Army modernization plan, as long as it clarifies a desire an unshakable self-defense, should not provoke other states. We need an army that is strong and that can operate throughout Norway – Finnmark is the part of it.

– Is Russia a military threat to Norway today?

– No, he said.

These military bases may disappear – NRK

Internal memos and classified documents that NRK has gained access to show that a number of bases and military camps are in play when the Chief of Defence shall submit its professional military advice for the government to fall.

The documents including a called conceptual device based on reviews from the core group and guidance from the Chief of Defence itself – draws a whole new base maps in Norway.

1. Navy will move Coastguard Management Bergen

Coast Guard base at Sortland proposed closed and management should be co-located with Naval Headquarters Haakonsvern in Bergen. Ramsund outside Harstad is only base in the north.

Kystjegerkommandoens (KJK / TBS) base in Harstad also proposed laid down. Kystjegerkommandoens tasks are taken over by an unmanned airborne system.

SEE VIDEO: In 2012 Coast Guard leadership moved to Sortland, now it can be moved again.

SEE VIDEO: In 2012 Coast Guard leadership moved to Sortland, now it can be moved again.

2. Air Force will operate fewer airbases

Orland Trondelag being previously adopted headquarters for the new F35 fighter planes, while Evenes built up as a forward base in northern Norway.

Bardufoss and Andøya Air Station is proposed down.

Orion aircraft recommended phased out.

The military skoleflyseksjonen Bardufoss also proposed discontinued.

Rearview highlighted in a internal memo that NRK sits on possible military base in the south if desired in addition to Orland and Evenes.

3. Army will move forces to Finnmark from Troms

Porsanger Moen camp in Finnmark adopted by 2nd battalion moved from Skjold camp in Troms.

Engineer Battalion also proposed moved from Skjold.

Setermoen and Rena continued as bases for the army battalions.

Shield becomes ally fitness. Heggelia camp Målselvfossen vacated and lay down.

In addition, Border Battalion in Sør-Varanger strengthened.

– Can look silly out

Coast Guard base at Sortland houses Today also Coast Guard leadership, who were moved there from Oslo as late as in 2012 – now it can thus be moved again.

These solutions are now being discussed and we are familiar with. It can obviously see stupid if we move again, but we must make the best out of the money and resources we have. About defense chief will move us to Haakonsvern to preserve combat power spring, we support it, saying coastguard chief Sverre Engenes NRK.

Mayors react

Mayor Grete Ellingsen in Sortland can lose 90 jobs if coastguard base disappears.

Photo: Adrian Dahl Johansen / NRK

But with local mayors are not cut proposals warmly greeted. On Sortland is Coast Guard base a cornerstone company with 90 employees, says Mayor Grete Ellingsen (H).

I have a clear expectation that the government cuts in defense of the north – but rather strengthens focus here says Ellingsen told NRK.

Also the Mayor of Målselv municipality in Troms, these cuts proposals unexpected and surprising.

I understand that you want to have forces in Finnmark, but emptying Shield camp seems very dramatic. It is a very important camp for the local community there, said Mayor Helene Rognli (H) .

– Nothing is protected

Monday visiting defense chief Haakon Bruun-Hanssen coastguard base in Sortland and Navy Base on Ramsund to talk to the staff there.

For NRK says his spokesman that they did not want to comment on individual proposals before professional military council submitted on October 1.

There is nothing that is protected in this process, but we do not want to comment further, said Maj Vegard Finberg.

– We have our limits, and within this framework we must look on everything, Finberg NRK.

Find Christiansen records from the bombing of Namsos in April 1940 – Namdalsavisa

As Chairman in the Democracy that was commissioned to draw up an evacuation plan for Namsos, a tribunal which also came to conduct the evacuation – and later as acting police agents in Namdalskysten, I had the best opportunity follow events closely. Mostly I know why their own experience, but I have also extensively taken with things that are narrated me of my staff in evakueringsnemden, police and others.

When a pure case I pledged Tuesday morning on April 9 radio on Oslo at half 8 o’clock and heard to my surprise break signal, which otherwise was not hearing before after noon. 8. That something significant was recall was clear, yet was the notification of the German attack on Norway initially completely paralyzed. I hear yet announcer voice on the message from. commanding admiral, “In fierce struggle with the Oslo Fjords fortifications – Kristiansand, Bergen, Narvik and Trondheim, reputedly also possessed”.

My first road , after I had apprised my closest, went to police chief and mayor and the conference resulted in the same morning was held presidency meeting and appointed a evakueringsnevnd. It seemed quite clear that the Namsos, after it was passed, was at risk. Every moment could English and French naval forces get into Namsos harbor and at the same moment the German bombers be there. A wooden buildings city Namsos seemed to have little chance to avoid total destruction.

In the evakueringsnemd as the Presidency appointed I was chairman of Johs. Dahl and Erling Thun as members. Chairmanship appealed simultaneously to supply Democracy to take the precautions that the situation may require.

Evakueringsnevnda began its work at. 15 on April 9 and pulled immediately up lines for their work. As a main line was constantly followed immediately to prepare a plan that would serve as an emergency measure. As the deadline for implementation was lengthened could then refine the plan further. Man had knowledge there during planning of an evacuation of Finnmark population of the inner districts of Namdalskysten was obtained tasks in Overhalla Highlands and Grong over the anta11 evacuating one where could accept. These tasks were given one immediately obtain and it turned out that these were divided by constituency for all men Childers concerned. It was decided therefore to begin by taking aim at evacuation to these three sir you. However, also note that as war situation was set could an evacuation to these districts become impossible and the Tribunal sat therefore immediately in connection with the sheriff in Fosnes to similar tasks from OTTERØY and Fosnes, as Vemundvik chairmanship sat in business to few tasks from this parish. The city was divided into 23 said electrodes and there was appointed rode men who were assigned to ascertain the extent to which city residents themselves would make evacuation. It was decided to initially take aim at an evacuation plan for old, sick and children under 15 years of mothers. Work was already Wednesday night come say far that they had a list of the people who you had to evacuate. During all this was the voluntary evacuation gone quickly forward. It was under his hand addressed incitement to those whose presence in the city was not necessary with respect to employment and who had places a trip, to leave the city.

Thursday morning began so plan the evacuation. Man distributed the various electrodes in the town on the different circuits in the evacuation area, preferably Overhalla and highlands. It concerned the choosing the nærrneste districts of respect to transport and Vemundvik proved already promptly little usable for an evacuation plan because of the widespread voluntary evacuation of this parish. While this work was in progress received one Thursday morning notification from district command through superintendent that evacuation due to war situation should not happen to Grong and Overhalla. Watching had not yet received assignments from new districts went one started to plan evacuation exclusively to the highlands. However got in today run task from OTTERØY and the evacuees were divided into these two sir you.

Thursday afternoon However occurred an event that brake considerably interference in the work. At 19 o’clock in the afternoon race where into port 2 British destroyers. The emergence of destroyers created panic in the city. When notification came to Namsos Atenæum where evakueringsnemden had just meet, was the venue plot momentum and it succeeded only partially summoning rode men again in the evening.

People escaped out of town haste and a large part of the voluntary evacuation was conducted in the evening and the following day. Watching met the next morning it was well understood that the tasks they had significantly was disturbed by a large part of the population was already moved (fled?) Out of town and it was necessary to let rode men take up new tasks over the remaining . This work was end thereof during the Friday and Saturday morning could send one of Namdalske boats OTTERØY with evacuees and a special train to Skogmo station. The number was, however, then dwindled so strongly that there was only approximately 100 people with the boat and a slightly smaller number of train. Many were however promoted pr. car in the current run. During Saturday continued evacuation so where the evening this day was conducted completely evacuation of old, sick and children under 15 years. Old home was evacuated to Vemundvik old home and Heivik school. It was in Vemundvik aligned infirmary and refuges for pregnant women. A number of adult persons whose stay in the city was not strictly necessary was also raised and it could also noted that several whose presence was highly desirable had left town hurriedly flee. In extensively searched the remaining population of the town in the evening and to return to his work in the morning.

Sunday dinner on April 14 went a large English fly down on Namsos harbor. After a brief conference between the British officers, Police, Harbour Master and a few present Norwegian officers were all telegraph and telephone connection and traffic out of town closed. The first British troop transport (from? – Indistinct) Namsos would take place on the very same night.

Politikammerets strength consisted at the time of Police, a female office catering and 4-5 police officers and constables. Following a request from the chief assisted I from Sunday night with work at the police station and was from 16.sm constituted by the County that police representative, a position I had to 30th sept. 1940.

I go over to the important era that began with the French troops landing in Namsos, wild it might be appropriate to include some more details from the first moving days of the war.

Folks reaction opposite situation is very different and shifted from panic to the most obvious contempt for the measures that were taken. Some went fully into the tasks that situation demanded with an interest and sacrifice that had to delight any iakktager while others nor in such a situation could refrain let personal interests and attention to their own safety and wellbeing go ahead common interests. It was also clear that the measures which are taken largely crossed the individual wishes and special purposes and there was nothing to be expected that there might arise misunderstandings and assert themselves crical on some, but mostly it can be said that the evacuation and they work as the necessary did was done in the very best cooperate and with interest, help and support from all quarters. It was not difficult to obtain people to work evacuation office to perform and office staff and rode men worked day and night in the 4-5 days that went evacuation was completed. The office held in the first days to Namsos Athenæum. April 13 Saturday night and early Sunday was there in Athens saddle prepared a evakueringskartotek with the assistance of 22 office ladies and clerks and Sunday morning phone book finished and could be brought to safety outside the city limits. After Englishmen were indented Athenæets premises office was moved to People bathroom where it was in business until Friday.

One of the biggest difficulties one had to contend with during the evacuation was the wretched condition ditriktets roads were in. After the long and extraordinary hard winter roads were in mid-April was still snow covered and spring thaw began said slowly during transport of the evacuees. This particularly applied the new way to Vemundvik between Hals and Bækken for the first time could be used this spring. However, it did also here to get there required volunteer crews and crews from Namsos was sent beyond to make road condition.

One chapter deals with was vehicle materials. The predominant part of the evacuation took place pr. car, partly by car owners who had voluntarily pledged cars available and partly using cars as they requisitioned for purposes. “Requisitions” was the also a chapter for both during the evacuation and in time under the English and French troops stay here. There existed a statutory basis for the requisition of horses and motor vehicles, but with an elastic analogical interpretations of the law extended one authority to encompass everything from house to housekeepers and from “Akkevit” (for English officers) to female interpreters.

For evacuation days in the first week of the war also hear the sad chapter on the mobilization of Norwegian troops. After a portion obscurity had done prevails war first day eventually came mobilization posters up and Wednesday morning could wait the first transports of Norwegian soldiers southward. Wednesday morning at 6 – 1/27 time I remember that I made a round through the city and support everywhere on young boys with backpack and skis. They wandered around the streets and gathered droves on street corners and was obviously completely disoriented about what they should undertake further themselves. Mobilization posters had the announcement that there would be pledged up extra trains and the local boats would go mobilization routes.

On Namsos station however was all quiet and Dampskibsselskap had no notification embark on setting their mobilization routes. A telephone inquiry from the chief of Namdal to regiment office in Steinkjer gave the result that the boys were told (?) To stay in Namsos and await further orders. After this order wandered then Wednesday and Thursday throughout a number of them around town and waiting for this further orders. Some traveled to Steinkjer and others went home. In the days beyond it began to get soldiers back from Steinkjer, they had registered themselves but had to reply that it was not needed. As can reasonably be had give grounds for believing that it is also within 5.divisjon were people who had parrert demobilization order from Quisling. Nor should contribute to help the mood in the population that the first and only call that was sent from the commander of the 5th Division was a warning to the civilian population against to arms. It was under these circumstances gratifying to see the boys reaction not to be taken into the ranks. There was barely nothing missing on belligerence and good soldatånd in the privates. It was despairing and resentful people who returned after following mobilization order and it was not as few as anew made the trip south to come by.

From Sunday afternoon when it British aircraft had gone down in Namsos harbor and the connection with the outside world were cut off completely, it was clear to us that Namsos suddenly become one of the central points in the world war. On the western front, it was at this point, that from the beginning of the war, pretty quiet. War in Poland were closed and it was the military operations in Norway the world’s attention was directed toward. It would have been interesting to know what preparations there was hit by Norwegian and allied military authorities for land sentence of troops began in Namsos and Åndalsnes. There is reason to believe that the preparations here were equally deficient as other military sites. The ratio was the Namsos’ him that here, where the significant help from Western powers to Norway should be inserted; there were not a military administration that could stand in connection with the foreign troops and guide them during land sentence and the further transport until the front . What you had was a naval officer (Schroder-Nilsen (note in the margin) that randomly came to Namsos after his vessel was trapped by the Germans in one of Trøndelags fjords, and moreover a lieutenant who was not equipped with any other help than phone guard and a driver. Under these conditions had a significant part of the work that otherwise clearly constitutes should have lain under the military administration fall on the civil administration and it then became the police station as widely to assist the foreign troops.

It concerned primarily accommodation of soldiers and it came provision of the bilmateriellsom was required for transport. In that city was cordoned off, it was necessary to conduct a civil officer on duty. There was placed guards at all roads and recreation at the city limits in general. On Sunday night, no one could get out of town for after noon. 19, and later on was there established a pass scheme that provided police headquarters a significant work. That evening came the first English troop transport.

Countries statement was reportedly made by a plan that was laid by Captain Schroder-Nilsen. Transport vessels should enter Namsos after darkest outcropping in 21 o’clock at night and unloading should be avsluttett at 3 o’clock in the morning so that the transport ships could be off the coast when it was light. The visit that town had German observasjonsfly had regularly taken place first 4-5 o’clock in the morning and this continued in the week Englishmen had transportation of Namsos. What the Germans had knowledge of, one could not know, but the English staff were certainly of the opinion as late as Friday 19de that transports was pursued without the Germans had knowledge of them. All material was brought into the storehouse and soldiers who were accommodated in schools and in various other hall around town remained all day indoors. It was therefore hardly any change in the cityscape to look for the German observasjonsfly. The only change to be the air raids entailed. Flyvarslingstjeneste had been established from the war beginning. From notification records on the coast and in the inland districts and from Bjørumsklompen rapportertes the aircraft turned around in the districts. Mandatory service worked constantly impeccable. From Bjørumsklompen was laid direct line to the police station and from the police station was the line to the alarm guard who lived in the backyard of Marie Hansen farm, near the church. The alarm was ringing with church bells, while signal “danger over”, was released with chime. It turned out that the reports did excellent and it took 40 sec. from the alarm signal was given from the police station to the first clock squeezed sounded. Alert was not, however, given the first week of the war. As long as it was not military installations or troops in Namsos one found it unnecessary to give alert. In this, however, a change from Monday morning and the 15th April at. 4.50, the first alert in Namsos. It was followed by many. The English troops had around in the vicinity arranged with air defense. Something greater extent had this antiaircraft not. It supposedly confined to a few antiaircraft guns and part machine guns.

It was originally reviewed the French troops land set Thursday night. By one reason or another were transport postponed until Friday and this day went so the remaining part of the British troops out of Namsos, most were raised in past week and night to 20 April was there in Namsos countries set 3500 French soldiers and unloaded amounts of food and ammunition. The cars that were disposable were inserted to bring troops and supplies southward but bilmateriellet was obviously inadequate and when morning dawned on April 20 and the first German observasjonsfly again circled over Namsos they found a city where quantities of French soldiers wandering in streets and in the city’s vicinity, where the docks were full stacked materials and where it lay ammunition boxes around the park and open spaces.

The first aircraft that proved – a little earlier than usual – in 4- time was met with mitraljøseild from French soldiers up by Namsbrua and in the hours that came crackling it against planes from the docks and the city region. The day before they had English troops dismantled their antiaircraft and dragged southward with it, and all that the French had to meet the bombers with was mitrailleuses. (In the margin: Friday overcalling British broadcasting that British troops were landed in Brasov).

I had Friday night slept a few hours after a couple vigils at the police station and was awakened by 7-time of a French officer who wanted accommodation rooms for 2,000 troops. I had two days before together with an English officer, taken out shelter 2,000 French soldiers who were reviewed. The shelter that was taken out was not satisfactory for the French, who would accommodate soldiers at some distance from the docks and railway station hereto came that there was land set 1500soldater more than reviewed and the consequence of this was then that its biggest part of the troops had to stay outdoors in the open. It was especially barns close to town Frenchmen wanted and we went around the Bjørums- and Høknes farms where we found space for a significant portion of the force. The rest could then be placed in certain premises in the city. However, it was already clear then that the cooperation between the British and French forces had to be very simple. Some of the premises were taken out two days before the French had no knowledge and I got the impression that in all had been no contact between the English staff officers, who would arrange accommodation of the French and the French officers. At 9 o’clock we came back to town and having obtained shelter for some French medical officers, I went home to myself in Kirkegaten to eat breakfast.

I’m getting from the window note a trawler which is at the railway pier and after air raid sirens had gone slams the first cannon shots from the trawler. As far as I understand this was the prelude to the bombardment of Namsos. A moment after the high sounds exploding bombs and what we later called the first bomb attack was in full swing.

Plans for the Hiroshima attack sold at auction – Dagens Næringsliv

Auksjoner

Auksjonen finner sted i New York den 29. april.

Oddekalv will rent Almaas farms – Bergens Tidende

– We will drive a farm to take care of the old Norwegian livestock species. Almaas farms are well suited to it, says Kurt Oddekalv, leader of the Green Warriors.

Oddekalv emphasizes that NMF made decisions about farming for many years ago.

– This is not something we have designed specifically for Almaas farms, he says and adds. – The only argument against giving the right to lease us is that we are not from Åsane.

Three applicants

– Should you become a farmer in Åsane?

– I’m already farmer, Fana. Where I have two dølehester seven spel sheep and chickens. I Åsane I become a part of the counseling process, but the operation of the farm, the second taking. Several have signed up and will be, says Kurt Oddekalv.

NMF has two competitors for rent right on Almaas farms.

As expected, there come an application from Almaas Farm The Friends, who have their originates in Åsane Historical Society. Enthusiasts there have fought for several years for the conservation farms north in Åsane.

The application displays Almaas Farm The Friends that they have the local environment in the back. Central forces in culture and sports in Åsane undertakes in the application to participate in volunteer work on farms.

In contrast to the two competitors will not Almaas Farm The Friends keep livestock on farms, but rather nurturing cultural by offering outfields as grazing for farmers on other farms.

newly formed union

The third application comes from a newly formed association called Almaas Culture and Landscape Farm.

Among the founders ecologist and teaches at the Bergen School of Architecture, Christian Mong. He says the association is wide-ranging and gathers enthusiasts from different environments, which everyone sees opportunities for Almaas farms.

– We have included us staff and students at Bergen School of Architecture, which will be key when the buildings will be restored. It is a formidable restoration job, he said.

In association is with teachers, who will use Almaas farms to visit farm for children and adolescents. Others are most concerned environmental around the farm or local story tells Mong.

Settled in April

The municipality has announced competition to hire Almaas farms. A workgroup is underway to undergo applications. During next week the working group shall deliver an internal memo, where they recommend a winner. The week then, two municipal directors decide who should receive rent, informs Tor Korneliussen, municipal director of property.

It is he and municipal director for culture, Harm-Christian publican, who has been authorized to enter into an agreement with the winner in the competition.

The winner gets the right to lease the conservation farmyard for 40 years for 1,000 million annually.

10000000

Environment Federation and the Association Almaas Culture and Landscape Farm both want to hire a person to operate the farms. Their operating budget is respectively 1.2 and 1.5 million annually.

Almaas Farm The Friends have an annual budget of more modest 180,000 dollars.

Just NMF has delivered a detailed investment plan. Rearmament of the 11 buildings on the two farms are estimated to cost 10 million. Almost six million of this will NMF retrieve from funds allocated to work for children and young people.

The other applicants will clarify what the municipality can contribute, before being made a detailed plan for the restoration of farms.

Buses of biogas – Sande Blad

Vestfold county adopted last December that at least 70 percent of bus production in Vestfold be based on biogas as fuel.

– It is up to the operators which routes to be added into biofuels, but I would estimate that City Route Tonsberg and Route 2 between the library and Horten will go on biogas, says CEO Erik Gundersen Vestviken Kollektivtrafikk (VKT).

– This is very good and good for the climate, adding he added.

Significant reduction

A current location can be on Gulli, until E18. This area is in the proposed municipal development plan for 2014-2026 allocated for industrial purposes.
