Galaxy S4, Note 2, Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Update Breakdown, Problems ... - International Business Times AU

The month of January is coming to an end it is time to check the progress of Samsung and its carriers for the Samsung Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates. With updates appearing to be winding down, here is a look at how the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update goes out for Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 2 owners.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 update is mostly completed. There are some stragglers still on Android 4.2, though. Telstra Australia Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update is one of the few remaining ones but has already landed a couple of days ago. Australian carrier Optus states that its Galaxy S4 4G Plus Android 4.3 update is now ready and the update can be expected to be available in the next few weeks. This is the only remaining Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update.

Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update is still rolling out to owners. The update recently landed for owners in Thailand, Romania, Spain and Germany. In Romania, Orange users have received the update while Yoigo users in Spain and 1&1 users in Germany received theirs. These updates are available now.

French carrier SFR has announced a deadline of January or February for the Galaxy S3 LTE Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update and it hasn’t been changed. Australian carrier Optus announced that it expects to roll out the update in February but it does not say a specific date for the update release. Optus notes that this deadline is for both 3G and 4G variants of the Galaxy S3.

An interesting development at Telstra Australia is its recent roll out of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean to the Galaxy S3 but it has not confirmed its update arrival and still not clear if it will. If it doesn’t roll out Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, it will likely be one of the few carriers that choose to pass on this major update.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update continues to arrive to users. The long delayed Telstra update has reportedly deployed ahead of its target release date. French carrier SFR still says January or February for its delayed Galaxy Note 2 LTE Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update while Australian carrier Optus says it will arrive in the next few weeks. Australian carrier Vodafone also confirmed that the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update has just passed its testing and awaiting an FOTA roll out date. It is one of the few remaining Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates.

Samsung Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 2 owners also report problems on the actual software. Issues range from battery issues to lag to crashes. Next for the Galaxy S4 is the Android 4.4 KitKat update which might roll out in March or April. It can fix some bugs and makes small changes to the UI with smaller and useful features as well.

Download YouTube Video to Galaxy Note 2

A question was sent to us recently via The Droid Guy Mailbag which reads, "How do you save videos from YouTube to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 so that I don't have to go to its site and go online each time I want to view the content that I want?"

Here are steps on how to download YouTube video to Galaxy Note 2:

Step 1 — Download the YouTube App

This is optional since you can still access YouTube using the Internet browser of your Smartphone. But for best results, it is advisable to get the YouTube app for Android from Google Play.

Step 2 — Enable Downloads from Unknown Sources

Make sure that your phone allows you to download files from third-party sources outside Google Play. All you have to do is open Settings. Then, go to Security. After that, tick the checkbox beside Unknown Sources to activate the feature.

Step 3 — Get the YouTube Downloader App for the Galaxy Note 2

Although you can use any application with the same function, one source of the tool which was recommended by a WonderHowTo article is the YouTubeDownloader (YTD) for Android from SourceForge. The link for the app can be found in the Resources section of this article. Be sure to download the latest version of the file and read the instructions provided by the uploader carefully.

Step 4 — Download the Video Using YTD

Open the video that you want to download using the YouTube app. Next, tap the share icon characterized by three dots interconnected by two lines resembling the mathematical symbol "<".

Samsung Galaxy S3, Note 2 Android 4.4 Kitkat OS Update to Roll Out in March - International Business Times AU

Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 are scheduled to receive the Android 4.4 Kitkat in March.

Android.gs cited an insider from Samsung saying that the company is already working on the Over-The-Air update of Android 4.4 Kitkat OS. According to the report, the source of this information is a Samsung software engineer making the information reliable.

The engineer said that both devices will receive the Kitkat OS update “in late Q1 2014, soon after the Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 roll out.” He also said that very minimal change will happen and there will be no new software features.

Android 4.4 Kitkat OS update brings new tweaks and features such as a transparent status bar with white icons, cloud printing and an “immersive mode” for full-screen reading and gaming. Also, Kitkat OS is claimed to take less toll in the handset’s RAM and processor and users can enjoy a slightly smoother experience as it is paired with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI.

Android 4.4 Kitkat OS update will be rolled out in phases, it means that everybody will not be able to get the update at the same time. Users who got their units from a carrier may have to wait a little longer as networks usually roll out updates a month later after the manufacturer released its official OS update.

Samsung still has not confirmed yet the official dates for OTA update to Android 4.4 Kitkat OS. However, impatient Samsung Galaxy S3 owners may now update their smartphones to the latest Android 4.4 Kitkat OS update via Custom ROM. OmniROM brings the latest Custom ROM for Samsung Galaxy S3 owners, which is claimed to be more stable.

Android 4.4.2 heading to Galaxy Note 3 - Amobil.no

Samsung has started rolling in some markets.

Photo: Sammobile.com

If you own a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 may be waiting for the update to Android 4.4.2. Now Samsung has just begun the roll-out – both version of Samsung’s own Exynos chip, and for the international 4G version with 800 Snapdragon chip.

Currently we do not know the update is on the way out here on the mountain, but when Android phones are updated, it often takes not so long from the first markets will update before the roll-out extended to more countries.

Some countries rollout has begun in the South Korea, India and Switzerland.

Use wise there are few major changes in the patch – the most visible changes are minor and cosmetic. The update will, however, improved performance, and a number of useful features deeper into the operating system.

15 Ways to Improve Battery Life on Samsung Galaxy S3 or Galaxy Note 2 - International Business Times AU

Samsung Galaxy S3 suffers the same battery issues of all other Android smartphones which usually lasts less than a day of performance. Owners can extend its battery life even longer than expected by simply tweaking and using essential tricks on Galaxy S3.

1.      Use LTE Only When Needed
Never use LTE if you’re not using it at all and select 3G instead. 4G/LTE features high-speed mobile data connection but eats a lot on the battery more than you think than 3G.

2.      Selective Features
Features are amazing and may actually help you every day but not all of them are good for the battery. Keep those features you use at all times and turn off others which are not needed on every day activities.

3.      Wireless Connectivity
Aside from mobile data, watch out for other wireless radios such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC which consumes power and you must turn them off whenever not in use.

4.      Preferred Internet Connection
Whenever there is an available and decent Internet connection via Wi-Fi, use it instead of mobile data to preserve power on your phone.

5.      Display Screen
Around 50 per cent of power consumption is allocated on the screen which means you need to manually set the brightness level comfortable to you, minimise screen timeout and use static yet dark wallpapers to save energy on the display.

6.      Location Services
GPS can kill your battery life and set only certain apps allowed to use location services – those which requires it.

7.      Apps and Widgets
Widgets are good display designs on the home screen but only a few helps your battery. Remove widgets you’re not using anymore and uninstall the app altogether. In addition, be careful with certain apps which are poorly written that may eat away battery faster or damage system files on the worst part.

8.      Don’t Forget This!
Samsung installed a non-removable Power Saver on your Galaxy S3 and you should use it as much as needed. Whenever you are not using any Internet connection or high tasking services, activate the Power Saver from the notifications shade to manage battery life better.

9.      Colour Profile
Galaxy S3 features screen mode and you should use customise the profile to help save power consumption on the Super AMOLED display screen.

10.  Refresh Regularly
It is recommended to restart your phone once a day to refresh the entire system after an entire day of full work just like a computer. It will also help the memory to perform better after a reboot.

11.  Factory Reset
In worst case scenario of apps damaging the system, you’ll need to reset the smartphone. It will restore the default apps and remove all other culprits which may have caused the battery last shorter and poor performance on the phone.

12.  Drain the Battery
Certain times require battery drain similar with laptops and notebooks to enabling healthy charging cycle. Usually, battery draining a device once a month then getting a full charge for about four hours keep cycles healthy than those units without recharging cycle.

13.  Avoid High Temperature
Avoid leaving the phone inside your car or putting it on a surface with direct sunlight to prevent damaging its battery. High temperature will damage the battery pack leading to poor performance. However, extreme cold can also affect the device leading to moisture damage.

14.  Root Access
Rooting will void the warranty but if it’s already gone, why not do it anyway. Root access will enable you to control various aspect on the battery and processor to improve power management.

15.  Custom ROMs

Samsung Galaxy S apps and TouchWiz UI consume high amount of battery which makes other Galaxy S3 users to resort on custom ROMs. Custom ROMs always feature better power management, CPU tweaking and larger memory compared to stock ROM and if you want longer battery life, get a custom ROM.

Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat Update: What You Need to Know - International Business Times AU

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat update is on its way but there are still a number of Samsung devices without the Android 4.4 KitKat, the Galaxy Note 2 being of them. Here is what Galaxy Note 2 owners need to know about their missing Android 4.4 KitKat update.

In November, Google announced the Android 4.4 KitKat with some useful features to the table but it is only early this week that the Android 4.4 KitKat started rolling out to Samsung Galaxy devices. The most current variant of the Galaxy Note has received the Android 4.4 KitKat update but it is still confined to a region and it is the only official Android 4.4 KitKat update from Samsung so far.

Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean Update Still Rolling Out

First and foremost, the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy Note 2 is still rolling out, which means that the Android 4.4 KitKat is still far out in the distance. In fact, the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update started rolling out three months ago in November and it is still on going up to now.

March or April Release Date Window

Rumours suggest that the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update points out to two possible release dates. One says that it will happen in April alongside the Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update and another says that the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 will have their Android 4.4 KitKat updates in March, after the Galaxy S4 KitKat update.

According to Android Geeks, the information came from a Samsung engineer and that the rumour is solid. In the past, this Web site accurately predicted the Galaxy Note 3 launch date, so the Android 4.4 KitKat update release date is a rumour worth buying into.

Official Announcement from Samsung is not Expected

Samsung is not likely to release official announcements about the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update as the Galaxy Note 3 update rolled out without a warning. At the time of the roll out, Samsung did not even offer a change log for the Galaxy Note 3 users, which forced them to just rely on the leaked information in the Web. As for Galaxy Note 2 users, we must expect the same treatment with a mysterious release date and an absent change log.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite aka Neo price, features, and specs – Latest News ... - Associated News

Ever since Samsung released the high-end Galaxy Note 3, talks about a Galaxy Note 3 'Lite' have been in the highlights.

However, nothing official has been disclosed by Samsung for the time being. As we have already seen in the past that the Korean tech giant has pushed out multiple products of its flagship device before also, and with the year 2014 expected to start an era of phablets, according to a report by GSM Arena, we could see Samsung unveil new products, including the Galaxy Note 3 'Lite' at the Mobile World Congress next month in Barcelona.

GSM Arena also revealed an alleged specification list which it discovered among some internal documents related to product positioning.

The document suggests that the phablet will be called the Note 3 Neo. The specifications depict that the upcoming device will be more of a Note 2 than a Note 3 as it will include the former's 5.55 inches 720p Super AMOLED display, 2 GB RAM, an 8 megapixel camera, 16GB storage and a 3100 mAh battery.

The Note 3 on the other hand as a larger display of 5.7 inches, a 13 megapixel camera, 3 GB RAM, a 3200 mAh battery and 32 GB storage.

But there are a few differences also as compared from the Note 2 which includes a more powerful processor as compared to the 1.6GHz quad core Exynos in the Note 2.

The Neo will feature a 1.7GHz dual and 1.3GHz quad-core, i.e., a hexa core processor. Apparently the device will be slimmer than the Note 2 as well.

Samsung also plans to include the Note 3's faux-leather back to the Neo, and even the stitched edges would be included.

Finally, the specs also reveal that the Note 3's smart features that were also included in the Galaxy S4 could also be part of the Neo.

This budget priced phablet will be aimed at emerging markets and is will likely be a success if the mentioned specifications are true.

Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update still dragging heels - Phones Review

Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update still dragging heels

During the later part of last year Samsung pushed out some new firmware for a number of handsets that quickly caused some serious issues for owners, and while some of these have now been ironed out and updates resumed the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update is still dragging its heels for some owners of the device.

Many regions have now seen the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update arriving for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, which came after the software had some serious issues for other Galaxy devices that included the S3.

This has now been fixed with downloads commencing before Christmas but there are still owners of the Galaxy Note 2 waiting for the new firmware to arrive. Australian carrier Telstra are pretty good in keeping their customers informed about upcoming new firmware releases, but has yet to start the process of updating the Note 2 with Android 4.3.

The carrier has now listed the update as to be confirmed with no actual release date in sight, and French carrier SFR have stated that it has hit problems with the operating system during testing, but many owners would rather wait to get a stable version of the OS instead of one riddled with bugs.

Trouble is the handset has been tipped like the Galaxy S3 to get updated to Android 4.4 KitKat at some point, which will again repeat the long drawn out process all over again.

This compares to HTC that is already started getting KitKat out to the HTC One and will speed the process up in the coming weeks, and even the Motorola G has been treated to Android 4.4 but many will point to Google's involvement as the cause of this.

Have you got a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 still waiting for Android 4.3?

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Review, Specs, Update: Android 4.4.2 KitKat ROM ... - KpopStarz

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 KitKat Android 4.4.2 update rolling out now - Mobot.net (blog)

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 KitKat Android 4.4.2 update rolling out nowLately we've been focusing on the smaller, lower-end Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo (as yet unannounced but almost certainly launching next month); it's time to turn our collective attention back to the big guy.

Good news if you happen to own Sammo's flagship phablet, as the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 KitKat Android 4.4.2 update has started making its way to peeps in Europe.

According to SamMobile, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 KitKat Android 4.4.2 update has popped up in Poland, for starters.

More specifically, it's the quad-core Snapdragon (as opposed to Exynos) version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 that's seeing KitKat Android 4.4.2.

The stock answer from Samsung on David Cameron's shores goes a little something like this: “Samsung UK will announce rollout plans for Android 4.4 in due course."

We could be talking days, weeks or even months, as the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 KitKat Android 4.4.2 update will require network approval and what have you. It should arrive a little sooner for those with unlocked handsets. In theory.

In addition to the usual KitKat Android 4.4 features and generally enhanced performance, Samsung has reportedly thrown in white status bar icons and faster unlocking, while the lock screen plays host to a new camera shortcut and full screen album art.

Needless to say, hit us up if there's any sign of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 KitKat Android 4.4.2 update o'er here.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite Leaked as Samsung Galaxy Note Neo: What to ... - International Business Times AU

Samsung has been creating headlines for a couple of weeks especially with its upcoming releases. Aside from the Samsung Galaxy S5, there have been reports about the Samsung Galaxy Note Lite. According to recent information, the reported Samsung Galaxy Note Lite will be called the Samsung Galaxy Neo. It will be a more affordable and lower end version of the Note 3. What should people expect?

According to a tweet by SamMobile last Jan 9, the display of the upcoming Note 3 Neo will be similar to its predecessor, only slightly smaller. The phones will follow a similar design, but there were no details provided further.

Fortunately, in a report from GSMArena, the Web site claimed that it has the specs from an unnamed tipster. According to the lead, the Note 3 Neo will combine the features of the Note 3 and the Note 2. In fact, the report claimed that Samsung plans to tip the features more in favour of the Note 2.

The claimed features include 5.55-inch 720p Super AMOLED display, an 8-MP camera, 16 GB internal storage, 2 GB RAM plus a 3,100 mAh battery. The device will also reportedly run a 1.7 GHz dual + 1.3 GHz quad-core processor instead of the 1.6 GHz quad-core Exynos chip found on the Note 2. Samsung will also weave the Smart Features of the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Note 3.

Earlier in December, analysts saw this move from Samsung as a means to diversify more. While it may not seem much of a need for the company as it has been diversifying most of its product line, offering a more affordable Note 3 should increase their market share potentially. According to analysts, if Samsung can market the product correctly, it should give them more market leverage.

However, it also boils down to the specs and the device’s overall functionality. There are formidable contenders like Google’s Nexus 7 and Apple’s iPad Air. Reports also claim Samsung will announce its Galaxy S5 alongside Galaxy Note Neo during the Mobile World Congress. People should wait until the official announcement for more details.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 will be announced at the MWC, but will hit stores around March of April, according to reports.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo aka “Lite” Pictured Next to Big Brother - Droid Life

Galaxy Note 3 Neo

This morning, the world is getting what we think is the first good look at the Galaxy Note 3 Neo, also known as the Galaxy Note 3 Lite. Until the device is officially launched by Samsung, the name is sort of up in the air. Just a couple of days ago, it was reported that the Note 3 Neo would sport a hexa-core processor, a new variation of ARM's big.LITTLE architecture – with two 1.7GHz cores coupled with four 1.3GHz cores. For what's being labeled as a cheaper version of the regular Galaxy Note 3, that is quite the move by Samsung.

In these newly-leaked photos from SamMobile, we can see that the Note 3 Neo will feature a slightly smaller display (5.55?) than the Galaxy Note 3 (5.7?), but the overall design is pretty much the same. There will be faux leather, an S Pen, and the TouchWiz UI. As for internals, the Note 3 Neo is said to sports 2GB of RAM, an 8MP camera, a 3,100mAh battery, and a microSD slot for additional storage.

Earlier reports and posts stated that Samsung could wait for MWC to launch this device, but with pictures now making the rounds, we wouldn't be surprised if Samsung just announced the device with a press release. While the hexa-core chip is neat, it doesn't necessarily warrant its own fancy unveiling event.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Note 3, S3, S4 Android 4.4 Update Release Date - Gospel Herald

It has been a long wait for the Samsung mobile users to get the Android 4.4 KitKat updates, so far the Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition is the only Samsung device running Android 4.4.

Many manufacturers like HTC, Sony and LG had announced Android 4.4 update dates last year. But there is still no word from the Korean manufacturer, which left millions of Galaxy S4, S3, Note 3 and Note 2 users in the dark.

According to the timeline leaked by iTechAddict, Galaxy S4 and Note 3 will get update in January while Galaxy S3 and Note 2 will get the 4.4 update on March to April. Meanwhile, French carrier SFR announced that it would begin Android 4.4 rollouts for the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 in late January.

The roll out of the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean has been completed for the S3 and Note 2 users which provided compatibility with the Galaxy Gear smart watch and the Samsung KNOX.

Although Samsung has not confirmed any KitKat update news, it is reasonably to expect that it will be coming soon.

PhoneDog Media Exclusive - androidandme.com

There's some good news today for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 owners that are jealous of their Galaxy S 4 brethren and their recent Android 4.4.2 leak: Now you, too, can sink your teeth into Samsung's KitKat bar, provided that you own the international, SM-N9005 variant of the Note 3. SamMobile today posted a test version of the Galaxy Note 3?s Android 4.4.2 update, which features the build number KOT49H.N9005XXUENA6 and is reportedly one of the final test builds for the device.

Many of the new features found in the Galaxy Note 3?s Android 4.4.2 update were present in the Galaxy S 4?s recently-leaked build of KitKat, including white status bar icons and a lock screen camera shortcut. Also bundled into the Note 3?s update is full screen album art during music playback as well as "significantly" improved performance that results in benchmark scores that are "off the charts." Even the process of unlocking the Note 3 is said to have been improved with this latest update.

If you're rocking an SM-N9005 version of the Galaxy Note 3 and are feeling both brave and hungry for some KitKat, you can install this test update for yourself by hitting up the link below. Samsung hasn't announced when it plans to begin the Note 3?s official Android 4.4 rollout, but if SamMobile is to be believed, the push could begin sometime in the next week or two. Of course, owners of the other Note 3 variants likely have a longer wait ahead of them as the update makes its way through the carrier approval process. At least we've got these leaked screenshots to keep us occupied in the mean time.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 reportedly receiving Android 4.4.2 KitKat update - NDTV

Samsung is now reportedly rolling out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for its recently launched phablet, the Galaxy Note 3 in Poland.

According to Sammobile, the Galaxy Note 3′s update (build N9005XXUENA6) is available over-the-air (OTA) and via the company’s Kies software. However, it’s worth pointing out that there is no word when Samsung will release the latest Android update for Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N9000), which is the model available in India.

The site further claims that the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Galaxy Note 3 has integrated many features that Google has added to the stock Android KitKat build.

Sammobile has also revealed the changelog for the update, which includes music Album art displayed on the lockscreen while playing music; camera shortcut on the lockscreen; upgraded Emoji icon; default launcher (TouchWiz easy Home, TouchWiz basic Home or a third-party one) from the settings menu; new wireless printing service, and more inbuilt Google apps like Photos and Drive.

The new Android 4.4 KitKat update for Galaxy Note 3 reportedly also includes the option to choose from default messaging app between Google’s Hangouts and device’s Messages app.

Earlier on Monday, the Android 4.4.2 KitKat screenshots of the Samsung Galaxy S4 were allegedly leaked and showed a flatter TouchWiz Nature UX design. Unfortunately, there has been no mention when the Galaxy S4 will be receiving the Android KitKat update.

An earlier report had suggested that the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 will be receiving the Android 4.4 KitKat update by the end-of-January and in early-February respectively.

Notably, Samsung has been busy pushing the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for its top of the line smartphones that include the 2012 flagship, Galaxy S III; and its 2013 flagships, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note II.

Owners of the international version of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3 should expect Android 4.4.2 KitKat to flavor their phablets before too long.

The latest version of Android for the Note 3 has already begun showing up in Poland, according to blog site Sammobile, where users must download and install it via Samsung’s Kies software. An over-the-air variant is expected to appear as well.

No specific dates were revealed to indicate when additional regions might see the update. But other Note 3 owners around the globe will likely receive it sometime over the next couple of weeks.

However, US users are out of the running for this particular update. The firmware version for the new update is N9005XXUENA6, which points to the international edition of the Note 3.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo Update: Photo Leaked Online of New Phablet - Latin Post

First Posted: Jan 10, 2014 02:21 PM EST

Photos of a new Samsung phone, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo, also known as the Galaxy Note 3, may have been leaked today.

SamMobile tweeted the alleged photo of the upcoming smartphone.

“Samsung GALAXY Note 3 Neo (SM-N750/5),” the tweet said with the picture of the device.

The tweet did not reveal much more information about the phone, but GSM Arena claims to know the specs of the upcoming smartphone. The website cites “a bunch of … leaked internal product positioning documents,” as their source.

“The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo looks to be more of a refresh to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 rather than a dumbed-down version of the Note 3, as it features the Galaxy Note 2′s 5.55″ 720p Super AMOLED display, 8MP camera, and 3,100 mAh battery,” GSM Arenas said. “Even the RAM and internal storage are the same at 2GB and 16GB, respectively.”

  • Apple Store Lineup and Release Date 2014: iPad Pro, iPhone 6 and iWatch Coming in New Year

The website also said that the phone will be powered by a 1.7GHz dual + 1.3GHz quad-core (Hexa) processor.

Today, SamMobile shared new “confirmed” news about the Galaxy Note 3 Neo.

“Confirmed: Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite/Neo (SM-N7505) packs @SamsungExynos 5260 SoC with LTE connectivity!,” SamMobile said via Twitter.

Although the smartphone is expected to have a new processor, the Galaxy Note 3 Neo is rumored to have a familiar feel. GMS Arena reports that phone will feature the same faux leather casing that is seen on the Galaxy Note 3. Differing from the Galaxy Note 3, however, it will be slimmer, even slimmer than the Galaxy Note 2.

“Also included are all of the Smart Features from the Note 3 and S4, including Air command and Advanced Multi Window,” GSM Arenas said.

Tech fans are hoping that Samsung will reveal more about the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo during Mobile World Congress 2014, which will be held in Barcelona from Feb. 24 through Feb. 27.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 lookalike on Amazon could mislead - Phones Review

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 lookalike on Amazon could mislead

There is nothing unusual when seeing many different products from leading brands copied in some way or another and these often originate out of China and can be a poor imitation of the real thing. This is a problem with a variety of different products and has long plagued the smartphone market as well, and the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 lookalike on Amazon could mislead some people.

While browsing through a couple of online retailers today I stumbled across the handset that you can see on this page on Amazon, which goes under the name of " New Quad Core 5.5 Note II". Obviously to many people this can easily be spotted as a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 knock off, but to the unsuspecting it may come as a nasty surprise if they think they are getting a bargain handset in a sale.

This device comes from China and while it may have the same sized 5.5-inch touchscreen display as the real Galaxy Note 2, this one only has a resolution of 540 x 960. The device does have a quad core processor under the hood though in the form of a MediaTek MTK 6589 clocked at 1.2GHz, and coupled with 1GB of RAM.

The device is running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean but only has 4GB of on board storage which can be only expanded by another 4GB, while cameras come in at 8MP on the back with a 1.3MP around the front.

There is also dual SIM support and for £99.99 the device isn't bad but reading through some of the reviews gives a mixed reaction to the device with many questioning the build quality, and some have even said the display has a design flaw.

Are you surprised Amazon sells this handset?

Galaxy Note 3 Lite reportedly to launch as Note 3 Neo with hexa-core processor - Digital Trends

Talk of a Galaxy Note 3 'Lite' has been doing the rounds ever since the high-end Note 3 hit the market last September, though we're still awaiting an official announcement from Samsung regarding such a device.

As we know, the Korean tech giant isn't shy about pushing out multiple variations of a flagship product, and with 2014 expected to be a bumper year for phablet sales, and news that an apparent spec list has fallen into the hands of GSM Arena, we could well see the wraps come off the oversized smartphone at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona next month.

The spec list, which was reportedly discovered among some "internal product positioning documents", suggests the forthcoming phablet will be called the Note 3 Neo.

As GSM Arena points out, the specifications laid out in the documents indicate the device will be more Note 2 than Note 3, coming with the former's 5.55-inch 720p Super AMOLED display, an 8-megapixel camera, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, and a 3100 mAh battery.

In comparison, the Note 3 has a 5.7-inch display, a 13-megapixel camera, 3GB RAM, 32 GB storage, and a 3200 mAh battery.

Before you start thinking it's simply the Note 2 with a different name, there are a few differences – the Neo will reportedly launch with a more powerful 1.7GHz dual- and 1.3GHz quad-core (hexa) processor, a notch up from the Note 2?s 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos offering. The device will apparently be slimmer than the Note 2, as well.

The tech company will also add the Note 3?s faux-leather back to the Neo, according to GSM Arena, complete with those 'stitched' edges. Earlier reports had suggested Samsung would ditch the leather look and instead go with the Note 2?s plastic rear panel.

Finally, the Note 3?s Smart Features, also found on the Galaxy S4, are thought to be part of the new phablet's offerings, too.

The budget-price Neo, if indeed that's what it ends up being called, will likely be aimed at emerging markets where the high-end Note 3?s price is still prohibitive for many consumers.
